So my dd has sooooo many toys as she's getting older I don't want to speaks a fortune on more toys!

So far I have bought her lots of clothes, boots and pjs and a couple of boots!

I have also got her a fountain pen that she kept asking for that's a certain brand.
What else can I get her? I am thinking maybe a nice bath set from lush.

What other stationery is impressive for kids at the moment? She lives stabilo pens but already has a set.

I want to go with useful but not boring presents this year!

The Lego millennium falcon (found it on sale 40% off a few months back), superhero t-shirts and lots of comics.

My 9.5yo DD is getting:

Kindle Fire tablet
Prime TV Stick
Lego Heartlake Riding club set
Nerf Rebelle Bow
Stargazer beginners telescope
Virtual Reality 3D headset
K'NEX Roller Coaster
Various DC Superhero Girls bits

Scrap book making kit
Book box sets - Jacqueline Wilson, Dork Diaries, Enid Blyton and Shakespeare
Jacqueline Wilson's Clover Moon book and the JW 2017 annual
Two encyclopedias - one general and one all about space
A large unicorn soft toy

I've bargain hunted like a crazy person for the past few months. Minimum saving on DD's Santa gifts was 40%. I was well under budget for her this year. Her stocking is made up of Smiggle and other stationary bits, colouring in books, Tsum Tsum's, socks and underwear, sweets and chocolate, small games, little Lego sets, a Christmas themed book and a few Harry Potter things. I've got her the Boden Christmas Fairies pyjamas to unwrap on Christmas Eve Xmas Smile

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 01:33

Thanks Wiggles is the Ikea mat ok for flips and stuff? I have been pondering for a while but it seems quite thin on the photos.

Bill the microscope was this one MicroPro - it was a lot cheaper though (around £18 on lightning deal) so seemed like less of a risk! The insect slides were from a separate seller, Apex or something I think

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 01:34

What anime/manga stuff did you get shemozzle :)

Cagliostro · 05/12/2016 01:44

My 9 daughter has been asking for a 'gymnastics set' for Christmas. I have no idea what to get her in terms of that other than a mat that's been mentioned on this thread. Anyone have any ideas?

The manga is a bit of a minefield because so much is age inappropriate! In the pat I've got her Chi's sweet home (about an apartment cat) Yotsubaand! (About a little girl) and Sailor Moon (which is probably a bit age inappropriate but I didn't realise until she was well into it). So she asks for more of those for birthdays and Christmas. This time I've also bought a collection of some called 'ultra maniac' which sounds dubious but is definitely suitable for under teens.

Anime wise I've bought her volume 1 of Fairytale (wanted to get the manga books
too as I'd read they were child friendly, but the books are more expensive and she'd asked for some anime too) and I also got a big Studio Ghibli collection DVD on Ebay. Something like 14 films. I suspect it's a knock off for the price it is but reviews are all positive.

I also got a load of things from Ali Express for next to nothing, Sailor Moon necklaces, micro Sailor Moon Lego, plush toy cat, Studio Ghibli stationary and tattoo's, posters. All perfect stocking bits.

IKEA sell a gymnastics balance bar? My friends daughters gymnastics mad girl loves hers. I've also seen a different type of balance bar (for hanging on) on Amazon. I think IKEA sell a sort of crash mat too.

Shemozzle · 06/12/2016 12:03

Pull up bar for door frame would probably work too.

Cagliostro · 06/12/2016 12:14

We got DD a chin up bar and she loves hers. Have to be really careful though as if you spin over the wrong way it loosens it.

I need to go to IKEA. For the crash mat and the balance bar!

fuckoffdavid lots of similar things to my dd, can I ask what the dolls clothes book is called please?

Shemozzle · 06/12/2016 23:06

I'd also recommend you the 'my first sewing machine' book that's on Amazon for about £4. It looks quite twee on Amazon but it's fantastic. A huge hardback book that is very good instructions on how to thread a machine and spools and lots of easy projects too.
