If you've never been visited by an elf before, how is he going to make his entrance?

SinclairSpectrum · 30/11/2016 17:47

Watching with interest - first time Elfer here.

tralaaa · 30/11/2016 18:34

Looking forward to FB tomorrow - last years made me happy. I wish I had young children again all those naughty elves

I hate elves on shelves! Bad enough that Santa goes creeping around kids rooms at night (he only visits the lounge in my house), we don't need a voyeuristic judgemental elf.

Sorry Blushtoo long working in child protection and with troubled and SEN kids!

pklme · 30/11/2016 18:43

I love love love Christmas, though, honest!

I am excited about elf too. Ours came about 3 years ago and DD LOVED HER.

We got our own sweet elf - ellie from Ikea and we did our own version, Ellie is a new elf and to help her grow up and help FC get a sense of what they do up there in the NP, elfs are occasionally sent to dc - they are not there to observe good or bad behavior but too see what the dc tastes and likes and dislikes are for the surprise elements of their presents if they cant get whats on list etc.

But ellie is young and this means she can get into mischeif, if she is too naughty we must send her back forthwith. Ellie only stayed FIVE nights.

shatteredstudentmum · 30/11/2016 18:57

Our elf never goes upstairs, dc would be horrified to think it was in his bedroom at night. Presents on Christmas day are the same.

I am looking forward to tomorrow though and dc are very excited

I can't wait, ours is going to be with a note from Santa and I'll probably pop him by the front door. We're also.visiting Santa tomorrow so equally excited by that. Love festive fun!

My DC are (way) too old now and it was never a 'thing' when they were young enough. However for the 2 still living at home (15 and 17) we are this year doing an adult version of Elf on a shelf Grin

elfontheshelfstolemychristmas · 30/11/2016 21:56

Our elf has arrived bringing the advent calendars with him! He only visited us for 8 days last year so this is our first whole of December visit. Slightly nervous but dd(12) is now old enough to help and make it special for ds's(7,4,11months)

wannabestressfree · 30/11/2016 21:58

Cunty there better be some pictures of that :)

tralaaa · 01/12/2016 05:48

Aw. We did Elf for about three years while DS was a True Believer and not just hedging his bets. Elf made his entrance through the catflap, an open window and the last year we did it he made a terrible kerfuffle coming through the letter box.

I have to say the first year was EPIC and then I gradually ran out of puff. However, some ideas mrstrunchball:

Elf throws pants onto the Christmas tree

Elf and other cuddly toys find chocolates, eat them all and strew the wrappers everywhere.

Elf and toys have a snowball fight with cotton wool balls in the night.

Elf and toys make a HUGE MESS making toast in the middle of the night (grasping at straws mid December)

Elf hides in 'funny' places. DP's pants/sock drawer was a good one.

As it gets closer to Christmas Eve and he has to go home -

Elf makes Snow Angels in Talcum powder.

Elf sits in the fridge at night

Elf sits under the tree as you find him asleep with an empty glass/can of something.

Elf gets in the freezer Sad. He is sad. He would like to go home now because you have looked after him really well, you've been good and his job is done.

Elf and DC sprinkle Reindeer food outside. Put the Magic Key/pies/carrots/pint of gin out. Everyone passes out. Except DP. DP goes out and shakes Santa's Reindeer bells underneath the windows whilst muttering Grin.
