Hi

Am looking for a tablet for my 5yr old. Which would you recommend, I think the kids as you get case, longer warranty and kids unlimited but DH thinks the 8" is better/newer.

Any advice from anyone who has one of the above as I don't want to leave it too late!

Tbh I would buy the basic Kindle fire ( £29.99) and then the kids case, you can always add the kids bundle of apps etc to it.
At 5 years old I don't think the extras that the new 8" hd have are warranted ie: Dolby audio sound.
We were going to buy Dd 9.5 an iPad mini for Christmas but having looked at the Kindle Fire in John Lewis ( DH and I both iPads) she decided that she liked the Kindle.
There have been loads of posts on here about how good they are for kids.

Not sure how much longer it will be £29.99 as is normally £49.99 but has been on a Black Friday week deal!

Thank you - hadn't thought of that option, will have a look!

We don't get on that well with our kindle to be honest, it is fine when you are on wifi but we had ours to take on hols with us. Half the games, well more than half stopped working when off wifi, if you connected them and then went out without wifi they worked but if you tried to play them a second time they didn't work. I bought the kids one as wanted the warranty but I wish I had just put the money against an ipad mini as I have one myself and it's a lot better than the amazon fire.

Sorry not kindle, amazon fire - wish you could edit messages!

The kids one comes with access to kids unlimited which is great as you aren't having to keep buying apps/videos etc, they are all free. The warranty is good too. For a 5 year old Id definitely get the kids one

Get a decent size SD card for it though.
