I would really really like a telescope. For looking at the moon. I love the moon. It blows my mind. I'd Prob like other moons and planets and stuff if I could see them. Dh thinks this is ridiculous.

I also want a karaoke machine. I think he fears for his eardrums. God knows why. I have the voice of an angel. Obvs

I would also like a new motorbike helmet that looks like a glitter ball. I think it's perfectly reasonable to get a new helmet in boring colour then have it customised. Again he thinks this is ridiculous. I say- I will be safe and also visible (whilst having a disco ball head. And what's not to like about that??)

What would you really like but won't get?

Melchetts 'Chopin Liszt', shurely? Grin

Chicken get the flat folded up at the sides board, the rolls for jigsaws are shit. The foldy board works a treat.

Night vision googles although its more of how much they cost for a good pair and a state of the art 17 inch screen laptop.

marriednotdead · 01/12/2016 00:11

Specialstains- your bike (and your DH) sounds ace!

I find people fall into two camps about it, eyerolling killjoys or my kind of happy ones. My DGS(3) obviously loves it. And DD bought me a diamond kite with a ribbon tail for my 40th so she's a kindred soul Smile

MelchettsTinslyMoustache · 01/12/2016 02:03

FFS, yes humpty, autocorrect fails me again Hmm
Perhaps I've been asking for the wrong thing all along and thats why I've never got one

amroc18 · 01/12/2016 03:17

An extra nights sleep (have 6mo who wakes most hoursand DH does one weekend night already). I'm sleep greedy and would like a week where I get 2. I would give up all my other presents for more sleep but what will invariably happen is I get some lovely presents I am too tired to enjoy ungrateful much Grin

Titsalinabumsquash · 01/12/2016 05:22

Fuckity (may I call you Fuckity?) I don't have any amazing gifts to add to this thread but I am going to label all my Christmas gifts to 'You marvellous bastard!' From now on in.

OP, seriously though, buy the gifts for yourself. Smile

My sister always asks for stuff for her house, appliances and soft furnishings and her H won't let her have any because apparently they're not real gifts, I like to buy them for her for Christmas and give him the middle finger while smiling sweetly when he complains. Grin

mailfuckoff · 01/12/2016 06:01

I want to go to Disney world. I have a DH and DT but apparently we can't go as it's too expensive just for a theme park
I also want a fudge making experience and tickets to various music festivals. What I don't want is stuff to fill my house. I have found a coat I love but it's 100 pounds so I'm guessing no to that as well as it's expensive even though we can afford it.

Mungobungo · 01/12/2016 06:46

Oooooh! This year I very much NEEEEED a Philips sunrise alarm clock. I've got a cheapo version from Amazon and it's made a difference but isn't gradual enough. I made DH watch a you tube of it and he was all 'meh, that's a lame present', but I don't care. I'd use it every day in the winter.

He's usually really good at gifts for me, but always goes off list because he likes the surprise factor. Im Happiest when he get on-list items and sometimes his off-list ones are a bit naff. Totally AIBU, but I want what's on the list. End of.

I think he got the hint, the year that I asked for a duck egg blue stand mixer, and told him I wanted it every time we saw one, and when he mentioned that he'd had something delivered, I told him that I really hoped it was my mixer, is it mum mixer, because I only really want my mixer you know! I got it. Best present ever! I'm doing the same this year with the alarm clock!

turkeyboots · 01/12/2016 07:07

I want nice tea towels, and a galvanised steel bucket. Both of which aren't presenty enough for DH or any of the extended family. Will get lovely things, just not the boring stuff I need!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 01/12/2016 07:10

I want a load of decants of really posh niche perfumes (but dh hasn't got the foggiest), the Discworld colouring book, a Skagen watch and a thing like a wooden spindle that you put your wool on. Oh and a wire haired fox terrier (or a kitten) or both. Sad Ain't happening. Though I might get the spindle after 3 years of asking.

NotCitrus · 01/12/2016 07:30

DP is great at sticking to the list, with the odd cheap surprise. I have gone through eBay before clicking 'watch' on nice jewellery.

But on the list for years has been 'a truffle. In a jar.' I have now explained exactly where to buy such things (you work near Borough Market. There's a shop that sells only truffle items...) so live in hope.

Do those jigsaw mats actually work for not losing the pieces?

SisterMortificado · 01/12/2016 07:31

I want a magnifier for my cross stitch, and a stand, and maybe even a day-light.
I won't get them because apparently, they are "old lady" things, and 25 is not old enough.

Tbh, I'd also say less-than-kind things to a medium-sized child if it got me an XboxOne, and that's not out of the realms of possibility so not a total loss, I suppose.

Kenworthington · 01/12/2016 07:36

The thing is dh is t crap at buying presents. He buys me some lovely stuff. And often very thoughtful. But these things this year are baffling him!

Love all your gift wants btw

Also. Would love to be able to buy said items for self but can't because- I've bought everyone else's and now have no money!

I want a mini chocolate fountain. It's been on my Amazon wish list for years (DH doesn't communicate other than through technology), I've hinted, I've outright said "id really like that chocolate fountain on my list this year" and it never arrives. Once I actually said to DH "why didn't you get the chocolate fountain for me?" and he got really offended and said "don't you like what I bought you" etc so I shut up.
It's something I know I would use loads for a short period of time and then it would live in a cupboard for ages but I really want one! I'd never buy it for myself. It annoys me that DH thinks he knows better than me about everything. Humph.

Pengweng · 01/12/2016 07:54

I would like some face scrub (i hate buying it for myself as it's £12 and I feel that's too expensive for face wash) but everyone thinks it's too boring. I would like someone to buy me a years supply and I would be really happy.
My MIL is quite good and like to buy practical presents so she always gets me what i ask but it must be sensible (i.e. not face wash). Last year she bought me a beautiful handbag from john lewis and i use it nearly every day.

The only thing I have asked for is some Origins Ginger essence perfume as mine is nearly done. It's the only perfume i wear and i have told Dh to coordinate with my mum so that someone buys me it. I will be really annoyed if I don't get it, though if i end up with two that's ok {sgrin}

Other than that i'm happy with some nice post it's or a packet of highlighters. Oh that reminds me i would love a nice desk tidy, my shit is all over the place since i started studying and it would be nice to have it all neat.

QueenofallIsee · 01/12/2016 09:51

I would like beautiful stationary - DP is a bit bemused at that. What usually happens is I chose my gifts so he doesn't make an expensive mistake.. Last year I selected the X files box set, Vivienne Westwood Handbag, posh handcream, champagne truffles etc. I would love him to buy me a beautiful gift that ticks all my boxes and is a complete surprise i.e. fabulous watch. But he is not confident enough to commit £££ to something that might not be perfect

SapphireStrange · 01/12/2016 10:08

Peng, 'so she always gets me what i ask but it must be sensible (i.e. not face wash).'

I'm Confused. People think face wash is boring but not sensible?

If it's a brand that you can get in department stores, could you ask for a voucher, give the impression that you'll spend it on non-boring treats, and then spend it on your face scrub?

My DM insists on giving me Debenhams vouchers, even though I've never seen any clothes or household stuff in there that I'd want. But they DO have my favourite brand of face scrub, so I just use them for that. Sorted.

MrsHathaway · 01/12/2016 10:15

Mungo - honestly you want a Lumie not a Phillips. Life changing. Lovely light quality. We have a mid range one that turns the radio on as well but you can set it to birdsong (among other options) so you're gradually roused by the light and then woken by the birds tweeting.

DH and I are mainly buying our own this year, with the odd small surprise for each other. It's liberating.

And he's now worked out that buying me more Woolly Hugs yarn makes me happy and keeps me busy Wink

SapphireStrange · 01/12/2016 10:16

I'd love a sunrise clock too!

NoAdventureNoTime · 01/12/2016 10:43

Tenpastlate I cant link but here's a pic, just type it into Amazon.

What do YOU really want for Xmas which you probably won't get because everyone you ask thinks it's weird/unnecessary/pointless/whatever?
WellErrr · 01/12/2016 11:09

DH has bought me a real miniature building site type set, it comes with real mini bricks, wooden windows frames, doors, tiles, concrete etc it even comes with a tiny trowel.

Honestly i am beyond thrilled and cant wait to build something grin

Sounds amazing!! Link please!!

WellErrr · 01/12/2016 11:09

Oooh cross posted whilst j was reading the thread!!

RJnomore1 · 01/12/2016 11:14

For last Christmas and my last two birthdays I have asked for competition kettlebells.

Dh says no they're a crap present. He then buys things I can't complain about as they are great, like surprise trips to Rome, but my heart yearns for my lovely kettlebells.

I think he's given in on the weightlifting shoes though!

Tenpastlate · 01/12/2016 11:34

NoAdventure thanks, that is amazing! It's going on my wish list too 😃
