What about these books? Loads of us bought them last year and they are lovely www.lostmy.name

Don't be too offended by the Plastic crap comment!! the plastic crap does start to get overwhelming Grin

steppemum · 01/12/2016 15:14

Persis - for the 4 year old who loves science, a volcano making kit, or a salt water robot. Try The Works.

5 year old craft. Most craft kits are too hard for the age (I think) How about buying a nice box and then going to The Works or The Range and buying glue stick, scissors, coloured paper, sequins, etc.
Or go into Hobby Craft and find her name in those brown paper letters, and then buy her glue and a whole variety of things to stick on - eg name Emma, feathers for the E, decoupage paper for the M, sequins and glue for the second M, and buttons to cover the A.
Our hobbycraft has letters done like this on the wall, so you could photgraph them and print it off and make a little parcel with each letter, the stuff to cover it and a picture of how it oculd look.

For the tower builder, a nice wooden Jenga? We have a lovely one, very pretty wood. You can build with it or play jenga with it. With help he could do Jenga at 2.

IveGotALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 01/12/2016 18:08

Thanks DillDong and Luckiest. I haven't seen any plain sets on Amazon, but I might still get one of those sets and just only give him one for now. He's 3.5 and doesn't know any of the DC superheroes yet, but ran around the house with one of daddy's shirts on his back shouting 'I'm a superhero!' for ages last night!

verytiredmummy1 · 01/12/2016 18:14

So after my avid following on these threads I finished DCs shopping ages ago. DD announced today that she wants Father Christmas to bring a dinosaur, orange, ice cream and a cookie?!

Want to get her a cheap ish cuddly dinosaur. Anyone seen a nice one?

bleedingheart · 01/12/2016 18:29

Mbear · 01/12/2016 18:42

Verytired - habitat have some lovely knitted dinosaurs, but not that cheap. Although they keep doing offers at the mo, so they might go down.

CarrotVan · 01/12/2016 18:48

Anyone know if beauty advent calendars are likely to be discounted in the next few days?

RJnomore1 · 01/12/2016 18:48

Studio has a bomb cosmetics offer, buy 3 selected sets for £12.99 each and get £5 off. Priced them on amazon and it was a good buy.

RJnomore1 · 01/12/2016 18:49

beadyboo · 01/12/2016 19:00

I got an Aldi Cuvée Royal beauty advent calendar for £4.99 yesterday, down from £20 and worth a punt!

PersisFord · 01/12/2016 19:27

Great ideas, thanks!! You guys are so crafty!!! The letters thing is genius!!!

I think the plastic crap comment is prob because I was a bit excited to be godmother and expressed it with toys at every visit. I mostly bring sweets now!!!

moonbabyandthebeast · 01/12/2016 19:33

MrsCocoa · 01/12/2016 20:10

Persis - might be tempted by metal whistles, kazoos or wooden football rattles?

There were 85% cashmere socks on the TK Maxx site last week for £19.

Cataline · 01/12/2016 20:49

iggi We get our heated throws from Amazon or eBay. They're amazing and much cheaper than Lakeland. (I'm still hoping for the faux fur one from there for Christmas though!)

Dunelm also have them in.

ecofreckle · 01/12/2016 20:58

moonbaby thank you for pears in pairs. I bought 4 for £12.02 for the present cupboard. Thank you Flowers

Catanddogmake6 · 01/12/2016 20:59

Persis they do personalised paw patrol story books. I think the Paw Patrol fan would love that as they help the pups in the story. I think there is also a Christmas version. I know Identity Direct sell them but someone else (who is faster as Identity Direct seem to take ages) might also so worth google.
