Are Ikea Christmas trees any good? Do they last? Seem great value but not if they only last a week!

There was a thread last year re people left with bare branches by Christmas Day. I'd do a thread search.

We did it once and ours was dreadful. And then you can't use the voucher till several months later

Don't they work out basically free, since Ikea recycle them and give you a voucher?
I'd buy into that but I make it a point of honour to pull out the same 20yo plastic tree and tat every year. Grin

we've had them for the last 3 christmas and always been great. Always purchased around mid december as we don't put a tree up before then. Maybe it depends on location? Who knows. But we always got two one for us and one for my Parents and their house is like an oven AND the tree was always sat right next to a radiatior :/ but still it lasted well. This year we are too far from an Ikea after moving so won't have my voucher. sob.

The voucher usually can be used at the end of January if I remember correctly - not many months later! If it's not jan it's Feb

We had one and it was great. Lasted until the new year.

We only put our tree up the week before Christmas though

I think the problem last year was downtown l the fact that the weather was so mild and the trees weren't fully in their dormant phase when they were cut. I might try again this year as the weather has been colder. Last years was a beautiful tree untill it went crispy and all the needles fell off!

We've had IKEA trees for the past few years. They were fine, until last year. I had the same problem as Palomb, but we couldn't even decorate it as the needles just suddenly started raining off the tree. There were bare branches in less than a week.

When I phoned customer services, they were aware of the issue and said that there was a bad batch. It took a lot of appealing to their common sense to get them to agree to a refund without having to return an unwrapped, shedding like crazy tree! I had to send photos of the bare branches, along with the receipt.

I'm not sure whether I'll risk it again this year.

I think you can use the voucher after January 16th.
