Do you have a Christmas card hierarchy? Because I've just realised I have.

There are the obvious ones: religious people get snowy church/choir in a town square/twelve days of Christmas, people with young children tend to get one with Father Christmas etc.

But for the general people, the ones I like more get cards that I think are nicer If I'm feeling particularly meh about you you might get one of last year's leftover cards (the horror!). I didn't actually realise I did this until my boyfriend asked me how I chose what to give to who...

I do it too. Particularly religious or not. Also buy really beautiful cards for close family.

We give photo ones of the dc to family. SIL is a really snobby person - only the most expensive looking one for her.

M&S ones are easy to spot

I know they're cheaper in January, but there's always a charity Christmas card shop above the library here and it's part of my run up to Christmas to go

I buy special ones for my children and my mother. Everyone else gets pretty much the same thing. I tend to buy either 'old fashioned' Currier and Ives type prints or snowy nature pictures.

I guess you know you're down to the bottom of my list if you get the same one two years in a row as that means you didn't 'rate' this year's model. Yikes!

Parents, grandparents, husband & DB get "own" card chosen for them that will reflect their likes/interests etc.

Known religious types get religious cards - nativity, biblical verse, Mary and Jesus etc.

Everyone else - gets a lucky dip from the random cards I bought in last year's January sales!

I have 'The List'. In categories. Husband finds it very funny.

I remember spending hours at school choosing which cards to give classmates in order of who I liked most.

Yes! I thought this was normal. Religious people get nativity. People I spend Christmas Day with get individual (husband, parents) cards, friends and family get nice cards and work colleagues get not so nice cards.

Mine and DP's parents get really nice cards, as does my nan. My 2 best friends get a specially chosen card each as well.

Oh sometimes they do thecity - it just depends what I've bought each year. I have a nice nativity for this year - some of them know and see each other though, so they can't all get the same!

I never buy biblical verses though - for some reason I dont like the front of the card to be too wordy.

Close friends and family - expensive cards with extra bits on (you know, the ones with raised sections/lacy bits/bells etc), about a fiver for 6.

Friends - standard 'nice' ones- probably from paperchase/HoF, around a fiver for 20.

DH's team of 30/my colleagues/neighbours we don't really know - one of the pack of 30 for 99p from the supermarket.
