Damn it. Got my online xmas food shopping order held with a few bottles of champagne. (Because it's November ffs and they haven't even got their party food in stock yet.)
And they've written to tell me off - very nicely admittedly - but it's still a telling off.
I'm just not ready to decide how many brussel sprouts i want yet!

Actually, they sounds perfectly reasonable on Ocado's part. They don't want to be left with 100s of bottles they can't sell when you take them out again in a month's time.

On the flipside, last year I kept changing my mind about what meat to roast. And guess what? Ocado ended up bringing me no meat whatsoever ... No substitutions. Nothing at all. Had to run to Tescos at pm to buy whatever they had.

So the lesson is to put what you actually want in the basket as soon as you can and stick to it.

This made me laugh!! I go through my shopping list and just tick everything and add it all (marigolds, washing powder, dog food, the works!). Just 1 of everything. Then I get myself sorted and change it all nearer the deadline. I am not sure who they are thinking is so organised that they know exactly how many carrots they will need in October! I haven't even invited the in-laws by then yet (possibly because I am hoping they will all go to Barbados instead Wink).

I had three bottles of champagne holding my slot...I got the email so I swopped the champagne for three £35 saucepans. They haven't told me off for that...yet 😉

Oh gosh. The email is tell you to order now. Things are out of stock not because they're not in stock yet, but because they're ALREADY out of stock!! As in, other shoppers have beaten you to it!

Ocado order in advance- so you need to order what you actually need now.

GloGirl · 27/11/2016 17:46

I have already counted my carrots Grin

PlumsGalore · 27/11/2016 17:47

I have filled my save order wth stuff I know I deffo will want such as cream, streaky bacon, wine, snacks, chipolata sausages, chicken wings for the gravy, cheeses, carrot batons, baby sprouts, chocolate biscuits, crackers etc

I just need to expand th basket on the 23rd, check stock availability of the things in the basket already and check out. sorted.

wheezles · 27/11/2016 17:55

Remember- if you look at your basket after checking it out, it will say some items are out of stock- but that doesn't mean yours. Anything you check out when it's in stock stays yours, no matter how many times you edit the order, as long as you don't touch that specific item (i.e. add more or take any away)

I gave up on the Ocado Christmas order when I realised that the prices are much higher now than in mid December when you actually want to do the shopping- you might want to remove then replace the same items in 3 weeks ' time
