What to feed a cake with if booze is off the cards??

I live somewhere that alcohol is illegal (and Christmas is technically banned, but hey). So, I've managed to collect the ingredients I need to make a fruit cake. I can soak the fruit in a tea and orange juice mixture.
But should I feed the cake? And with what???
Or am I best doing a simnel type cake which isn't traditionally fed? Any other recipie suggestions???

Cheers.

Hot toddy fruitcake (minus the whisky). Includes a feeding solution. ;)

Absolutely. That's what I use.

(I adore this cake.)

I make my cake with tea soaked fruit, as long as I give my fruit a good long soak beforehand I find that I don't need to feed it. I'm planning on making mine this weekend, will check it in 2 weeks, if it seems dry I will feed it with a little bit of tea again!

I should say though, just use 500g of dried fruit. 700g is too much.
