please share your ideas for lovely food gifts to buy

I'd love ideas for small producers, something unusual, thinking perhaps oils, olives, spices, chutneys, crackers, that sort of thing. Smoked fish? Cheese?

As I have absolutely no ideas for the adults in my and DH's families, they will all be getting food based gifts.

Can you get to any farmer's markets or Christmas markets near you? They always have lots of lovely foodie gifts, normally made by smaller, independent businesses.

We recently visited Dobbies garden centre near us, and they also had loads of nice foodie treats that were a bit different to the norm.

I'm in Sussex, but was thinking that it might be useful to have a thread with mail order producers. I will try farmers' markets locally as well, good idea.

I have sometimes ordered smoked salmon or smoked trout from Inverawe for relatives I won't be seeing. They have a lot of gift-packed items, and do a big range, price wise as well as variety wise.

Are these the sort of thing you're thinking of? They're lovely as an extra to perk up a dish.

Fortnum and Mason do lovely biscuit tins that look very posh and are not expensive. They deliver too
