My dd who will be 4 after Christmas and has gotten really into board games.
We have a lot of the orchard ones which are a big hit, diving dolphins and a princess one.
She wants "don't wake up dad" but don't think she would understand the rules?
Could I have some recommendations please? Something that id enjoy too!

My fella was 4 a few months ago, he likes the orchard ones too. He also enjoys kerplunk, frustration, connect 4 and hungry hippos

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 11/11/2016 19:47

Oooh yes actually I like frustration! Will definitely get that one, is kerplunk the one with the sticks?

My ds 4 yr likes buckeroo, operation, snap connect 4 and we are trying to teach him chess (on his request not ours as I don't know how to play) he also likes my first scrabble and dominos.

CupofTeaTime · 11/11/2016 19:51

I've bought my 4 year old Busters Bones and Soggy Doggy

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 11/11/2016 19:53

My DD is a bit older at 5, but she really enjoys Junior Monopoly.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 12/11/2016 08:06

We've bought educational resources the sneaky snacky squirrel game, its fun and educational and we've bought loads of educational resources products for our dd and it's always excellent quality

DS is just coming four and loves games. He loves OTs Shopping List, Pizza Pizza and Dinosaur Race. From other brands, he loves Pop Up Pirate, the ELC games which is very much like Kerplunk and Junior Guess Who.

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 12/11/2016 21:20

Thanks for that, I think she would really enjoy guess who.
Look forward to playing them now!

Dd4 loves hungry hippos, frustration and the shopping list by orchard, keplunk is on the Christmas list, snakes and ladders going too, apologies if repeated but not read any answers! Smile

Ellieboolou27 · 12/11/2016 21:28

*good

LizzieMacQueen · 12/11/2016 21:30

Was going to suggest connect 4 too, it's an excellent strategy game (for a 4 year old)

Purplehonesty · 12/11/2016 21:36

We've got 'trouble' which I think might be a cheap version of something else.

It's really good tho my 4 and 7yo play it all the time.

4yo also loves guess who and snakes and ladders

Lukeandlorelai4Ever · 12/11/2016 22:31

Thanks again,we have snakes and ladders , it's a massive jigsaw one that you have to make then play the game and she loves playing that.
There's so many I hadn't thought of so thanks for the recommendations

One of the less known options, DD really loved 'Busytown' at that age, and we are still playing it nearly 3 years later! I really like that it's a co-operative game. Also brings back lovely Richard Scarry memories for me!

SlurplePurple · 13/11/2016 06:59

My dd is 3.5 and she loves pig goes pop. She plays it at least twice a day for about 30 minutes at a time.
She also likes gooey Louie that my sister bought her last Christmas.
She's asked for greedy granny this Christmas. Looks insane but I'm sure she'll love it.

Bobsmum02 · 13/11/2016 07:09

What about crocodile dentist, I remember my DD loving that at a similar age.

Cliffdiver · 13/11/2016 07:14

DD1 and DD2 also love games, we have:
Pig goes pop
Bunny jump
Don't rock the boat
Operation
Penguin peril
Avalanche
Dino bite
Head shoulders knees and toes
Ladybirds
Shopping list
Lunch box
Where's my cupcake
Farmyards dominos
Hungry hungry hippos
Honey bee tree
Bukaroo
Barmy bugs

For xmas they're getting:
Tooth fairy game
MLP board game (can't remember name)
Guess who
Splashy the whale

Bit of a hijack, but those with junior monopoly, is it suitable for a 4.7 year old or would you think that's a bit young still? I loved/love monopoly so would love to play it with DC!

VeryPunny · 13/11/2016 07:55

Pop up Pirate a hit here, although not strictly a board game.

TheHuffAndPuffALot · 18/11/2016 19:18

Daryl, my DD surprised me by grasping Jnr Monopoly really quickly. I had held off letting her play it until, one day, I picked her up from her friends house and they had been playing it with friends mum.
