Leapfrog pre school system or the reader any good?

Dd2 is 3 were thinking about one of these for xmas has anyone got them what do you think? Or is there something else similar that's better?

My youngest had the Leapfrog Scout reader and used it lots. She still occasionally uses it now despite being nearly 6 and a proficient reader.

The books are pricey, but I used to just wait until the price dropped on Amazon, or buy them secondhand in ebay.
