Growing up we had lovely christmas days year after year. It was only when I met DH that I realused we never had any traditions. It was open presents, lunch, play with toys etc... now i have LOs i would like to start some traditions for the day.
Also, i have the in laws coming for dinner / the day and want to avoid the day being focused around alcohol. What activities do you do on the day? I need to break the day up otherwise it will feel like eternity. Usually, after a late dinner we put pjs on, watch films, moan about how stuffed we are then eat some more 
however I would like a bit more structure to the day as we are havng guests.
