Recommendations for mermaid blankets please

Im looking to buy one for my tall nearly 9 year old daughter (146cm)

If anyone has bought them would it be recommended to buy one for an adult or would this 'loose' the effect?

Also, I've seen a few random websites selling them but I dont know anyone who has purchsed from them to know how reliable thay are - can anyone please recommend sites that they have used?

I haven't any advice but am looking for one for my niece so am checking in for the answers.

I've bought 4 from Twinkledeals

I got adult ones for my tall 5, 10 and 11yo nieces and a child's one for small 3yo niece. They are marvellous quality from what I can tell (only opened one as they are for Christmas) and less than £15 each.

Bowsboutiques.com have knitted blanket mermaid sleeping bags. They're lovely and I'm thinkning of them for my 2 dds.

Just check the length of each one to see if it will be big enough. I'm 5ft 4 and the adult ones are plenty big enough for me to be comfy so should provide growing room for the girls.

I make them, and I wouldn't say it "loses" the effect for an adult. They are so warm and snuggly, I love mine :)
I think it depends how much you want to pay for one and what type of quality you want.

There's handmade, which, imo, will always be warmer and better quality. There are so many Facebook pages and etsy sites that sell them.

There's also cheap £10 ones you can get from abroad, but I've heard the quality is rubbish. Fall apart and very very thin.

A friend has said Asos have started doing them too - I think they come recommended as the quality isn't as cheap as others.

The ASOS ones are £32 which is a bit dear for me! Do you sell yours crafty penguin?

I do, but they are the same price as Asos. All handmade ones that are quality will be because they take about 20-30 hours to make, and cost approx £15-£20 in wool. If you're not after a very high quality one, your best bet would probably be from the link MrsBelle posted as I believe they are middle of the range ones, iyswim?

I hope your dd loves whichever one you get her. I wish they'd been around when I was a kid!

Also looking for mermaid blankets. I really want wool mix ones rather than itchy acrylic but not having much luck.

I love the look of the knitted ones but was thinking fleece ones might be good for kids. Suspecting they might be a short lived fad for them.

As a crocheter I obviously love the wool look but if you want fleecy ones, there are people who make them on Facebook. I can't remember the names of any pages, but if you go on a group called "craft craft and more craft" and ask on there - I'm sure you'll find someone who makes the fleece ones as I've seen them on there before.
