What are we wearing on Christmas Day?

Am I the only one that struggles to get the perfect outfit for the big day? It needs to be dressy enough for the occasion, I also go to mass in the morning so nice (and warm) enough for that, loose enough to play with the kids toys (the benefit of not having kids yourself is that you get to play with all your nieces and nephews' toys), roomy enough around the stomach for all of the food, etc, etc.

Not easy.

I did play with the idea of a sparkly skirt, thick tights and slouchy jumper, but then I remembered that I'm much shorter and squater than the models on pinterest.

So what are you wearing or are you lounging in your festive PJs all day long?

Leggings and some sort of lightweight, casual top, possibly sparkly. Plus slippers. Comfort is the priority.

Black velvet jeans (stretchy!) and a sparkly black top probably. I always end up having to stand outside to cool off while I am waiting for everything to cook though.

I got a lovely navy woollen dress in m &s last year that was deemed too funereal to wear (tbf we were only 7 weeks after DFILs unexpected funeral but I had bought it before his illness and also thought navy was better than my usual black to not upset DMIL). So I ended up in jeans and a long white/red/navy plaid tunic top as the only other suitable thing I had brought (for DD birthday the following day). I still haven't worn the dress so maybe this Christmas.

Otherwise I have a new long plain red tunic to go over leggings and boots.

Or maybe a dress from Monsoon which is navy but with lovely bright flowers scattered around the fabric.

I definitely will talk to DH before packing and traveling this year though! Instead of a row and needing to change when rushing for mass and a bad stressy trip made worse by being made feel guilty for trying to do the right thing and only getting it wrong for everyone ( DMIL actually liked it in the quick glance she got in the hallway before DH saw it and bundled me back to change).

this I am so organised this Christmas. Most people would be happy but I'm sad because I've done everything

Will wear it with black tights and heels (then slippers)
