Home made candles for presents?

Are home made candles a good present? Decent sized votive candles, high fragrance.

I'd also give a bottle of wine and chocolates in a 'bundle' with the candle.

Is that good? Or is that completely naff?

I made candles in vintage teacups one year. They looked nice. But I do think generally they are a bit meh. I like scented candles but I know many of my friends don't.

I love candles and would be delighted with your bundle personally game.!

The DDs made some as gifts one year. They were well received (though possibly just because family are polite).

Personally, I love receiving something/anything that someone has made for me, even if they are a bit scrappy, because I appreciate the time, effort and money that have gone in to making it. That means more to me that a more expensive gift that I could have bought myself.

Thanks for the responses. I get they might be a bit 'meh'. But bollocks to it, I'm going to do it anyway.

Grin

I'm very excited about it actually loser

I was very excited when I received a homemade candle off my friend a few years ago :D So I copied her last year and made a couple for people, and am planning to make some more this year. I bought some cheap gold spray paint from Amazon to jazz the jars up a bit and then wrapped the finished candle in cellophane :)

I think your bundle sounds lovely. Personally I love getting homemade gifts, even if it's something that's not my "thing", I'd appreciate the thought and effort that had gone into it.

I'd be delighted.

Love candles
Love wine
Love chocolate.

If you could chuck in a couple of hours with Daniel Craig & no questions asked that'd be my perfect present.

I would be delighted to receive a gift like that Smile

OP I've just ordered wax and I'm in the process of ordering fragrance oil for this exact purpose. I was/am still tempted to get this for secret santa though, only in the hope that I'll end up with it!

This thread might help too if you haven't done it before. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/arts_and_crafts/788341-Oooooooooh-I-have-just-made-candles-with-10-oils-and?

Just don't put candle with choc. It will taste of the candle even in the packet
