Any recommendations? We're in the London area but will travel a bit.

We did the Harry Potter Studios tour and ELF last year.

Was looking at the ballet but when we can go seems to have sold out. Has anyone seen Matilda or been to the Kew gardens at Christmas thing?

I need places to take older kids/adults.

Have you heard of Potted Panto? Two ex tv presenters do all the Panto's in 80 minutes. They did a Potted Potter one a few years ago, and I think we appreciated it more than the dcs.

Following as I'd love some ideas. I only ever really go to the markets and ice skating but I'm pregnant this year so can't don my skates!

I like Christmas at Kew - its a nice walk with lights and hot drinks/food. Small fun fair there too.

Iceskating at somerset house is fun - or try one of the others (we've skated at NHM too).

Matilda is a fantastic show, good for all ages I think. We're off to Potted Panto this year, Kew gardens and Baddies the musical at the Unicorn Theatre.

Bit of an unusual one, but would recommend Denis Servers' House in east London. It's a tall town house, every floor is done up to represent a period of London's history at Christmas. It's very well done and atmospheric.

Also Waddesdon Manor near Alyesbury is a national trust place that has a Christmas market and decorates each room for Christmas.

The Nutcracker at Covent Garden is memorable.

Try our MN Local site for Westminster & City, which has thousands of listings including a Christmas What's On guide, attractions, restaurants, hotels... in central London: local.mumsnet.com/westminster-and-city/things-to-do

We're going to Peter Pan Goes Wrong - love Mischief Theatre Company. And the Witches but that's in Leeds not London! Like the idea of Potted Panto and The Baddies - one's for next year maybe!
