What shall I buy my baby for Christmas?

My first baby girl is now three weeks old. By Christmas, she will be 3 months old. I know she won't have the first clue and don't want to spend silly money but I would like to buy her a present. As her birthday is September, it will be a while before she gets big presents again so I'd like to think ahead. She already has a fisher price play mat and a family member is buying a jumperoo. So .... what did your babies (and you) love in their first few months?

Soft toys? A mobile? (Not phone!!) A lovely blanket? You're very lucky - it's a lovely time!

I would make a lovely memory box doesn't need to be expensive and some board books like dear zoo and the very hungry caterpillar.

Imperial - lol a mobile - that would go down well on here! I have to confess DD is/was a Sept baby and I dont think she got a pressie from me, clothes from rellies, -she still has the 'Baby's First Christmas' Xmas stocking and bauble -also rellies. I think I knew I would need my £ for when she needed 'stuff'
She had a jar of 'chicken dinner' baby food..... for lunch though...I couldnt scoff turkey and leave her out... :-O enjoy

Bath toys, stacking cups, shape sorter, building blocks, lamaze do some really cool magnetic stacking bugs my DS loved.

Get down to tkmaxx and have a look at some of their toys, they have lots of really nice things that I wouldn't necessarily have thought of for DS.

So you need stuff from 3- months to 9 months.... Books are nice to like dear zoo, all of those nice books. IKEA toys are just great. Mine loved the lilabo people. The IKEA kitchen is great but that could be for the first birthday as would an outdoor sandpit

I got ds2 a taggy blankie with his name and birth date embroidered on it. He was going to nursery when I went back to work and so it was ideal for that.

He has 3 now that he sleeps with every night....he is 9yrs old now

I started a charm bracelet for my baby girls on their first Christmases. Then added another silver charm for christening and birthdays. I try to keep the charms meaningful.

We got DD a lot of toys that she couldn't enjoy properly at the time (she was 5 months Christmas just gone) but would last her through the year- puzzles, books, stacking cups, bath toys.
Her "main" present was a necklace we had a message inscribed on, we thought it would be nice for when she's older to have a little keepsake of her first Christmas.

I made DD2 a sensory basket for her first Christmas, she was 7months.

Someone recommended a soft baby book on here from photobox. I loved the idea and ordered one for my son filled with photos of his immediate family. I love it. The photos are printed onto the cloth pages, it's much bigger than I expected and its machine washable too. They are not cheap though.

Nothing.

Or a stocking/advent calendar that will last forever

And seriously, nothing. She will get given lots of stuff, and will have zero idea what's going on and won't reber or be interested.

DS was 4 months for his first Christmas, we bought him a jumperoo. And then some smaller toys from ELC and some clothes.

He got ridiculous amounts of stuff from my family, it was utter madness

Ikea wooden toys for her to enjoy once she's 6 months plus.

Anything you need/want for her. Clothes, muslins, etc.

We also bought a jumperoo, my baby was 4 months. Santa brings stocking gifts only in this house, he brought clothes, baby cutlery, books, stuff like that.

DS2 was 4 months last Christmas. We bought him presents as DS1 would have wondered why, is he didn't get much. Things we got included: mamas & papas best chair (like a bumbo), stacking toys, Lamaze dragon, skwishy, That's not my.....books and some high chair toys. We also got a gorgeous pramsuit and a posh dressing gown.

DS1 was born in September. His first Christmas we got him a cuddly toy and that's it. Grandparents bought various toys like board books and stacking cups.

It turned out that he wasn't very interested in toys for ages so I'm glad we saved our money. We just buy throughout the year as and when the DC need something.

My nearly 6mo ds is just starting to sit, but has been playing with toys since 4mo. Lamaze firefly is good. I'm getting him a sqwish, and an activity cube thingy, books. He has an o-ball for encouraging crawling, and he likes his brothers cars. Oh and natural latex bath toy. Teething rings? Christmas bauble and I'm making a stocking.

There's set of four books that have been favourites of ours, I don't know if they've been mentioned already! But I started reading them to DS from 6 months old and it wasn't long before he was lifting the flaps himself etc.
I've forgotten what the series is called, but it's postman bear, the fox's socks, the rabbits nap and hide and seek pig

I'd get a really lovely stocking, as that will be reused year after year. Pop a few little bits in the stocking like teething toys etc. I'd also think back to when I was little and the books I most liked to be read and buy her a bundle of them.

Dd is now 9 months old and so far she has loved

High chair toy
Lamaze emily doll for her pram
Pat mat
Sophie giraffe
Fisher price light show for cot
Anything that has a crinkly sound when she touches it.

Her absolute favourite thing to play with is the argos catalogue. She will happily sit there for ages ripping it apart.
