Anyone a fan of going to see fathers Christmas at Harrods? I've been waiting what feels like an age for my advance booking email to book in order to secure a good date, day rolls around and the available dates are absolutely rubbish!! I have a feeling we won't get to go as it normally sells or so quick - what is life!!

Am I bothered over nothing? Is it even good or do you have a better suggestion for an alternative?

My Dd was 3.5 last year and absolutely loved it.
I thoroughly enjoyed our day out and the experience was nice. Ds was too young really at 1.2 months but he had fun and they included him with a gift.

I know we won't get to go this year cos I never shop there and won't get a weekend date, Dd is in school now so can't go during the week.

It was good, made better by the money being refunded for use in store as well!!

I booked my tickets today, I got a week-day evening in December which suits us as we live in London and can go after school. This will be our tenth year in a row! Last year was a flipping nightmare to get tickets and the year before but this year I found much more availability. The last few years we have only been able to get November tickets for example. I hardly ever shop there, only really at Christmas time, so am on the absolute bottom tier priority for being sent the booking email.

I just got my email, this thread prompted me to check my email. Had no plans to go this year anyway but by now there are only November dates available.
I think I've shopped there about 4 times in my life so I couldn't be any lower down the list for prebooking!

I think the new booking shows the level of the owners to be honest. Sad

WreckTangled · 16/09/2016 14:24

I was only allowed to book today so I'm obviously lower than all of you Grin

Got after school the beginning of November on a Monday. Bit rubbish but it'll just be nice to see all the lights and have dinner. Hopefully the dc can stay awake Hmm

I've never been to Harrods grotto - do they really decide how good a customer you are before they book you in??

Humidseptember · 16/09/2016 22:22

They never used too Telephone but the new owners have put us all in a tier system Sad so if you spend more you get the priority. In any other shop I would perhaps understand such an un gallant approach to the grotto but this is our most famous - flag ship store Sad I think its a shame, Its woven into our heritage.

Humid - that's actually really terrible. I guess they need to prioritise it somehow and would their good customers refuse to shop there if they were given an earlier slot? I wonder how much you have to spend to go on xmas eve Shock
