The late late toy show is on 2nd December!

Just talking to DH and he said that this year the toy show isn't on the last Friday in November as usual but the first Friday in December. I looked it up and he's right.

I'm actually happy because we traditionally put the tree up for the toy show and it would be 25th November which is very early. So mark your calendars for 2nd December!

Wooo can't wait. It's when Christmas officially begins in our house.

DH has a man crush on Tubs

Cool. My kids have never watched it but I think we'll introduce them to it this year. The sunday repeat though, they'd never manage to stay up.

DD is only 3 so not sure how much she'll take in but for me and DH it's always been the start of Christmas, putting the tree up then watching the toy show with the fairy lights on and a mug of mulled wine.

Last year, for charity, Penny's had toy show pyjamas and jumpers.

Ooo yeah I almost forgot about the new pyjamas for the toy show. Preferably a onesie

My daughter was on it last year. She has been ill and was with a charity for sick kids. They filmed the segment the night before, which was great because we were able to watch all of it at home on the Friday. Ryan Tubridy was really good with all of the kids. I was seriously impressed with him!

sunless he does come across as really good with the kids. Bit like Gaybo. Was your daughter in the bit where they let the kids loose on the toys? I love that bit.

Helga Yep, that was the bit :) She had a ball! I felt sorry for the crew though. After the kids finish, they have to set up the studio again to have it ready for the live show the following night. I'D say they had a very late finish!

I remember as a child always hating the Billy Barrie kids (pure jealousy!) but now I quite miss the fact they aren't on there every year.

mm I think there would be riots if they tried to cancel the toy show!! I think it is possible to watch from overseas but I'm not sure how. I remember it being mentioned on a thread last year.

Yes I watched it on Rteplayer international last year. Think it's a different app to normal rte player.

Very excited now, will investigate ways to watch it!

crepe it's an Irish tradition. There's a chat show called 'The Late late Show', it's on Friday night at 9.30 and the usual sports people, politicians, human interest type guests. But one episode a year (usually the last Friday in November but later this year) they devote to toys. They have children demonstrators and musical acts. It's brilliant normally but it's when something goes wrong it's funnier. They usually do a quick segment with kids on bikes, scooters etc and to be honest, the camera people for that bit should get danger pay.

At the launch of the Autumn schedule on RTE, Ryan Tubridy came out and said that to him Christmas starts in December and for that reason they were moving the LL Toy Show to the first Friday in December and he hopes that it will stay in December from now on.

Wonder how the Irish toy retailers will adapt to this because usually after this show they are swamped with aunts, uncles, mums and dads buying toys for relatives. Hope they will get enough of the 'big ticket' items in to keep everyone happy.

What is the toy to have this Christmas, does anyone know???

Great. Mine will be 2 and 3 so we will wait for the Sunday repeat and do the tree then :)
