DD was 8 last Christmas and got some Playmobil (the playground but she's coveting the water park stuff this year), she loves her Lottie dolls as well (got the stargazer one for her 9th) and this Christmas she's getting a wooden marble run.

New bike here, I am finding it a real struggle to think of anything else to get her. She wants Heelies but TBH I think she would wear them once and never use them again. She loves getting vouchers but appreciate it does lack the personal touch. Am hoping Harry Potter Lego might appear again with the play and the film coming out.

Lilaclily · 04/08/2016 12:07

Yes new Harry Potter lego, they'll definitely be some coming out with the Mythical Beasts film coming out in December

My dds are 8 they got rid of all their Lego, play mobile and dolls. They don't play with toys much but they do like shopkins. Stuff from smiggle, Claire's accessories and books are popular. Kindles, hudls. Stuff for their hobbies like sport related stuff. Tickets to a show. They like vouchers so th can choose themselves. Art and craft stuff but things they can do themselves without adult intervention.

A microscope. I got one at a similar age and thought it was amazing...I'll never look at a humble piece of thread the same way again!

Cagliostro · 04/08/2016 12:28

Ooh yes microscope is a good idea. I'd love to know of a good one. DD is getting a chemistry set soon (she did ask for it as a present but we've just got it as a home ed thing) and is really excited about that.

DD loves her rollerblades, always on them

Sewing machine
Microscope
Telescope (great with star book)
Doh Vinci
Baking sets
Karaoke player
Wii + games
Smiggle stationary
Claire's accessories
Art and craft sets
Glitter tattoo sets

And their keyboard

Pointless present last year was Heelies. Worn once each!

vikjul · 21/08/2016 08:34

LittleReindeer I was thinking of getting my 8yo DD a karaoke player, would you recommend the one you have? I'd like something that could be combined with an iPod/iPad, but there is so much to choose from and everything seems to get mixed reviews...

LittleReindeerwithcloggson · 21/08/2016 09:35

We've got this one but paid £30 at Costco. Not the most advanced but does the job and kids love it. Small enough to be used as a normal CD player in the bedroom as well

Thank you, good to know that you are happy with it! I'm tempted to get something similar, looks great! Still a bit worried about the sound and the microphone not being strong enough, but hopefully it will work well!
