Six months on- which toys are still being played with?

I really enjoyed reading the thread about the most appreciated and play with gifts just after Christmas and I wondered what everyone's DCs were still playing with and what has been forgotten about (almost) six months later.

DS was 2 a few weeks after Christmas and I tried to buy toys that he would grow into over the year. He still loves his play kitchen best and the way in which he plays with is developing as he does. He isn't playing with his Brio train set as much as I hoped but he is starting to show an interest and I'm sure he will be ready to add to it by Christmas.

Anyone else?

Both Dcs still love their scooters.
DS1 still listens to the audiobook cds-even starting to read books alone.
Ds2 still plays with paw patrol toys- figures and paw patroller.

DC1 (9) was all about Lego dimensions, he wanted literally nothing else. He barely looks at it! Angry The PlayStation he got is in daily use though, just not that game. It's all minecraft.

DC2 (8) didn't ask for anything bless him. He also got a PlayStation, used daily. Usually minecraft but he also still likes and uses the Disney infinity Star Wars thing.

DC3 got everything Paw Patrol imaginable. Fairly sure he doesn't realise he owns it! Angry it's still the old trains he had before really.

DC4 has a December birthday but still loves and plays with literally everything. Kitchen, dolls house, babies etc. She's the favourite in his respect so she can have more this year Grin

Joy that made me laugh, I need a DC like your DC4 Grin

Oh joy yes to the Lego dimensions. We already had the ps4 (dp's) but the boys begged for Lego dimensions for it. They got it as a joint present and while they played with it constantly for about a week, it's now sat getting dusty on the shelf. They've hardly looked at it since. They don't know about minecraft yet but it's all about the Lego games in this house, Lego marvel avengers, Lego marvel superheroes, Lego batman, Lego hobbit. We honestly thought they would love the Lego dimensions.

Adopt A Yeti Kit, also the Bigfoot one. My DS (8) loves them. He used his Christmas money to buy the dragon, unicorn and panda ones too. Even my DS (11) has been eyeing them up and "neeeeeeeds" the panda one. Grin

8 year old also still plays with his schleich dino figures a lot.

Nearlyadoctor · 18/06/2016 21:59

Lego Elves and Playmobil pony farm, both played with almost daily.
In nice weather Micro Scooter, again used daily.

QueefRichards · 20/06/2016 21:09

Me and DD both got Kindles and we're still obsessed with them. Although DD is 19 so not sure she fits the criteria for this thread but I felt left out Grin

Apanicaday · 20/06/2016 21:14

Ds5 and ds2 both play with tracey island and the vehicles to go with it every day.

ipswichwitch · 20/06/2016 21:20

2 and 4yo DS's love the trampoline. They also love their playmobil - campervan, fire engine and dinosaur stuff. The imaginext castle and Batman stuff also gets played with pretty regularly. The orchard toys games were also a massive hit.

moobeana · 21/06/2016 20:42

Playmobil and playmag (same as magformers and magnatiles) both played with everyday.

My lesson. Buy less little stuff, you get what you pay for,

MrPoppersPenguins · 21/06/2016 21:08

Audiobook CD stories (Enid Blyton- now driving me mad!!) listened to all the time!!! Also Octonaut toys. My DS (4) loves a small set of toy Peter rabbit suitcases I got from the Works, thought he wouldn't bother too much with them but he loves storing things in them, hiding them inside each other etc.

2under2madness · 21/06/2016 21:12

Toot Toot & Playmobil 123.

Also Duplo, but that's mostly DP Grin DD doesn't get a look in!

ReluctantCamper · 21/06/2016 21:24

DS1 is 5, he loves his kidizoom camera and plays with it most days. Scooby doo Lego also popular and well played with. The Max tow truck was an expensive waste of money, although it was the only thing he actually asked for.

For DS2 who's nearly 2, Melissa and Doug chopping food is popular. The toot toot garage was a big failure. He plays with his brother's hot wheels one. Was a little disappointed as everyone else's kids seem to love theirs and I do like something I can buy accessories for Grin, maybe I'll get it out of the wardrobe and give it another go.

Both boys still love Duplo and it's something they can play with together. Am considering going bonkers this Xmas and shelling out for the ridiculously expensive Duplo train set.

Bought my first presents for Xmas this month. I love it!

Swirlingasong · 21/06/2016 21:29

5 year old: second hand books and a felt tip pen set.

Toddler: wooden train bits, bike, busy book, Lego, all the toys that dc1 doesn't play with.

Real problem trying to keep presents even in our house!

Cagliostro · 21/06/2016 21:30

Most notably the card games Sleeping Queens and Super Tooth. They are both brilliant and the DCs love them.

Also the Mythology book (from the same series as Dragonology, Pirateology etc) - endlessly fascinating.

And Lego but that goes without saying!

MummyTheTramEngine · 23/06/2016 08:51

DS just turned 4 and still loves
Diggin Rigs Buzz saw
Octonauts gup F (build your own gup)
Duplo - Thomas trains off eBay as no longer sold

I really rate the diggin rigs toys.

SimplyNigella · 23/06/2016 10:09

I'm getting loads of great ideas for DS, thanks everyone.

DS (7) Awkward bugger to buy for as he tends to either build stuff or play with 'non-toys'. We still have untouched craft kits and unbuilt Lego sets from Christmas 2014.

Hits from this Christmas were: Bluetooth headphones, furby boom, dream lite pillow, teddy bear blanket, bungee bouncer, books of facts and funny illustrated books, dumbbells Hmm and nice stationery (smiggle pencil case & accessories, frixion erasable pens, stapler, colouring pens, etc)

DD (5) Easy to buy for although, like her brother, doesn't do craft kits or Lego sets. Basically, I have raised 2 children who are incapable of following instructions

Hits from this Christmas were: scooby doo figures (recommended on last year's bargain thread, thank you), playmobil pool and camper van, disco light, pop up space book, nice stationery, gymnastics leotard, door bar and mat, music CDs, globe and Shopkins.

They both loved the swings we bought them for the garden.

I hope this helps someone. Did anyone buy that Pie Face game, and was it worth it?

SoMuchToBits · 23/06/2016 21:43

Pleased to see Playmobil featuring quite a bit! Smile

Peasandsweetcorn · 23/06/2016 23:33

The other thing I'd say is that, each year, the "little bits" I buy to make up the number of presents so that they have "a good pile" rarely seem to get played with. The exception is if it is something which is supplementary to something they already have (sparkly play dough for example)

Sierra259 · 23/06/2016 23:40

DC1 now 3.5 still plays with the Megasketcher a lot and also got a little rucksack that is used all the time. Lego is definitely the favourite, along with stickers and arty stuff. Oh, and Elefun.
We did try to buy some practical things like a new hooded towel for swimming and an apron for baking, so they get used regularly too.

MTWTFSS · 26/06/2016 10:18

Play Mobil/shleich animals are very popular. My boys make a zoo and the animals always end up escaping and eating the visitors :)

DS2 (3yo) loves his Paw Patrol toys.

LittleReindeerwithcloggson · 26/06/2016 17:05

Paw patrol figures played with daily
Art set used loads
Sewing machine used regularly
Heelys used once
Disney infinity still unopened!

WhirlwindHugs · 26/06/2016 17:23

I think 'little bits' are good for character items that you know they will eventually lose interest in. We didn't buy any of the paw patrol playsets, but bought the little figures and they play with them all the time.

Cagliostro · 26/06/2016 18:01

SitsOnFence how did you make the door bar thing secure enough? We also got one for the DCs and they love it, but I am always hovering in a paranoid fashion as it seems to come loose really easily. Also, where did you get the mat from please? :)
