I thought that was worthy of a thread of it's own!

Admittedly it is a long handled pink pan with a long handled brush but still, it's a dustpan and brush at the end of the day isn't it? I tried to look grateful, I really did.

I'm sure she meant well...? Or

Oh, I think that's got to be a contender for this year's WWB's MIL and the knicker elastic memorial prize...

Still, one year I got a leopard skin satin shortie nightdress. And she said "I saw this and thought of you" which really was the limit. I am the least likely person to wear such an item! I'm a PJ's snuggled up to the neck kind of bear!

The first thing I thought was "will this beat the knicker elastic thread".

Oh congratulations that is a top mn mil gift.

I have to admit when I opened my damp and musty from a car boot sale yellow patterned polyester table cloth and red plastic handled cutlery set the first thing I thought was 'maybe this is a mn mil xmas gift contender'

But you win because at least mine diddn't have a messege of implied slovenly-ness

Kbear · 26/12/2006 22:47

exactly, I thought "does she thing my house is dirty". Thing is she really means well and goes out of her way to buy "interesting" gifts but my SIL all got jewellery boxes and I thought, "why did I get a dustpan and brush"?

And my SIL's house is a pigsty and smells and she needs it more than me.

Mine is spotless (mostly, except for toys!).

My MIL gave me a pair of tweezers (among other things). So now I am paranoid that she has spotted that I don't always have time to deal with the beard I seem to be growing in my old age.

Where is WWB this year?
I'm waiting to see what she got!

MerryChipmonkAndAHappyNewey · 26/12/2006 23:17

MIL got me 400 nappy sacks last year.
