several weeks ago - so with some reluctance as I hate the sound of a recorder we decided to get her one. It is now wrapped and waiting. she has just been running through her list again and decided to provide a bit more detail. "A recorder.... you know so I can copy people speaking..."

Argghhhhh! What do I do now!
Lump it I suppose. Now I get tortured with the "music" and its still not the right thing.

Tesco have little voice recorders and M and S have lipstick shaped ones. What I used to do with a class of 30 kids with recorders was get them to take the tops off them (recorders not kids obviously) or put bits of paper in the airhole. Alternatively, Tesco also do earplugs... Good luck!

I know I really wanted to get a whistle instead but because she kept saying recorder and she can do it at school next year we decided to go with it.

They have got a laptop they all share so I might just show her how to use that tonight so when she opens the parcel she will convince herself its the right sort. She's quite obliging that way.

Don't want to buy her anything else now. Might have a little MP3 lurking somewhere though. Good idea. Will ask DH.

Quite funny when you think about it
