What to get a newborn baby boy for Christmas?

Hi all, first post so a big hello to you all!
I have no idea what to buy my little boy, I bought quite a fer teddies n bits before he was born so I don't want to get loads of stuff that will just fill the flat up. I wonder whether to get some 3m + toys instead? But as its his first Xmas, I would like to get him something to keep forever, rather than plastic tat.
What do you reckon. What did you do?
Thanks in advance!

Why buy anything??

There's absolutely no point.

Spend it on booze and fags.

If you want something to keep, get a really nice "Baby's First Christmas" tree ornament... like a crystal or silver one that you can put a photo in.

H ha lol moondog, havn't got that much time to get him much anyway. Still recovering from c section. I would have been more organised and got pressies beforehand but I didn't want to know the sex of the baby. 15 days overdue and c section = buggar all prep for xmas! Booze and fags sounding very temting, although I gave up the fags and haven't touched one yet...

Hi - books are a good present which you can read now but will last for a long time. Board books of picture books are good eg Peepo or We're going on a Bear Hunt. Pick something you can bear reading over and over and over again for the next three years!

a moneybox?

When we were born me and bruv and sis got silver bells engraved with our names that we hung on the tree every year - still a part of our christmas now, more than 30 years later!

My ds was 6 weeks old last xmas. He got nothing! This year he just likes balloons so he will get a pack of them. Next xmas he will probably start being more aware so he can have something then! nSave money while you can...before long it will be KSwiss trainers.

I would buy one of those motorised swingseats they are very expensive, but can be an absolute godsend. I didn't have one for my dd1, but did for dd2 and ds1 - the babies love them and it give you a chance to get things done ie cook a meal, the ironing or just five mins peace. christmas is an excuse to get one.

Good responses so far - feel free to post more if you can, money box cool, teach em young! I like the idea of a christmas tree decoration to start a family tradition! Will check out Waterstones too.
Cheers!

My friend got her 8 week old son a music box that plays something Christmassy from mamas and papas. It's lovely and can be wheeled out every Xmas. DS loved his chime ball from Jojomamanbebe at that age - it's so easy for them to grab and is only £7.99
