Present ideas for a poorly male friend.....

My friend is recovering from treatment for cancer and is currently housebound due to feeling tired, and generally ill. His family all live abroad and he isn't able to make it home for christmas. I really want to send him a cheer up box of gifts. I have invited him for christmas dinner but he really isn't up to travelling. Any ideas? He is male, early 30's, gay gay gay and usually a great laugh (when he's not feeling so down in mouth). I want to make him smile.

sorry, missed the fact it had to go in a box

erm, fabulous stripey socks in beautiful jewel colours? bought my Dh such creatures and they always brighten his day. He is not gay but is a little camp, in the loveliest way

I think he has some treatments as part of his oncology care, but thanks for the suggestion! I will have to look at the light up ducks colditz - that is a great idea and just the sort of thing I was looking for!

Try looking at www.iwantoneofthose.com - they have some great gifts, and lots of quirky things. They should (I believe) also be able to do next day delivery.

Aromatherapy candles.....very relaxing and calming.

a CD of some flamboyantly 'gay' music....the sort of thing you'd put on to get ready for a night out.

My gay friend is massively into aromatherapy/skin care stuff. And cashmere.

Hope you manage to find him something!

(hello, mb, how are you all?)

Funbox fillers:
Copy of The Idler or Viz or this (very funny and shockingly rude!) if he's not too refined
A banana (well, they're good for you and always make people smile!)
Cute plastic sunglasses
