...how do you remember what each thing is? Or do you not care? I put post it notes on to remind me but have been known to forget them on there, so had to whisk in quickly to scoop them off Blush

Gift tags.

Gobletofgin · 24/12/2015 12:10

I wrap and put the persons initials on the back with a sharpie then do the ribbon and tag when I am ready to put in gift bags and deliver .

leccybill · 24/12/2015 12:14

MN is a whole other world sometimes.
I wrapped DD's last night. All the others I'll do tonight.
Got the last of the presents yesterday and the food shopping this morning. And I don't even feel stressed as this is what I do every year and it's always been fine.

elQuintoConyo · 24/12/2015 14:15

I have a small Christmas notebook I start in October. I list both ideas of what to get, and what I have bought plus cost (and date, quite unnecessarily!).

I wrapped a couple of weeks ago. DS' gifts aren't labelled, but others are. I have put all of them in big brown Ikea bags that look v uninteresting to a curious child Xmas Wink .

Oh, and stocking presents are wrapped in tissue paper in a bag labelled 'stocking'. DS has a smiley log that poos gifts which he'll get tonight, those gifts are not wrapped and are stored in a bag labelled 'caga tio'. I have never lost or forgotten a present yet.

jamtartandcustard · 24/12/2015 14:41

Lists. I write a list in September of what I need to get, very generic like main gift 1, main gift 2, stocking filler 1, socks etc and tick it off as I buy it. All wrapped and labelled and put away as soon as its bought. Sometimes I do forget what is in them though so I do get surprises too when the kids open them, but I know I've got what I need

AnonymousBird · 24/12/2015 15:33

Spreadsheet type list here too, for ideas, what's bought, what's ordered, what's arrived and what's wrapped! So glad I had it, as had completely forgotten about one of DS's carefully hidden items until this morning!

Different wrapping for each here too for DS, DD and DH. Tags for the others.

MTWTFSS · 24/12/2015 18:31

Write small number on each item + spreadsheet :)

Stickerrocks · 24/12/2015 19:27

Scrap the colour-coded system. They've just started to wrap my presents & come in to ask if I mind either having some of them unwrapped or if they can use birthday paper, because they've run out of the proper stuff. Perhaps I should have bought some more!

Stickerrocks · 24/12/2015 19:28

What on earth is a smiley log that poos gifts? Please can we have a photo.

i normally wrap everything the same night so i know whats what and whos is whos this year i done it over the past week or so. and i have forgot who has what. and im not 100% if i have given the right things to the right person. i have a pair of head phones left over but dont know whos they are :/

Sgtmajormummy · 24/12/2015 19:58

This year I put a small white sticker on each present with the recipient's name on, thinking I could peel them off when they went into piles.

BUT the wrapping paper ink and the sticker glue are incompatible, as I found out this evening with DD's Christmas duvet cover, leaving a visible white patch where it peeled off...

They're just going to stay on now. Life's too short.

Fckup · 24/12/2015 19:59

Seriously?? Spread sheets, colour coded wrapping paper?? Maybe this is why I don't like Christmas as I don't have these things in my life.

Kim82 · 24/12/2015 20:04

For the kids I put their first initial in the corner of each present so I know whose is whose - luckily they all have a different initial. Relatives get gift tags put on them as I wrap.

LumelaMme · 24/12/2015 20:08

I just have a notebook with lots of scribbles. When I wrap, I tag.
It works.

sooperdooper · 24/12/2015 20:10

Spreadsheets? Apps? Photos of presents? Confused

I have a list then I put a tag on the presents as I wrap them, I have no need for it to be any more complicated or any nee to know what each one is once it's wrapped as long as it goes to the right person!

JustRosieHere · 24/12/2015 20:12

Why do you need to remember what's in them? How much are you buying? Kids have different colour paper so I don't have to label them all and bar a few small bits I've a good idea of what they have. Family and friends get 1 possibly 2 presents each and I gift tag them and just remember what I've bought.

JemimaMuddledUp · 24/12/2015 20:13

Spreadsheet and colour coded wrapping paper.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/12/2015 20:13

I buy a roll of Christmas gift tag stickers from Wilkos. They co-ordinate with the wrapping paper, write them and stick them on. I always get a surprise on Christmas morning because I've forgotten half the stuff I've got the kids.

craftynclothy · 24/12/2015 20:14

I wrap, put tag on and then put in bags according to which house they need to go to.

My parents take all the bags for their town (i.e. my side of the family) when they visit in late Nov/early Dec. We arrange a day to swap with friends.

Icklepickle101 · 24/12/2015 20:18

Well this year I was wrapping and DH was labelling, I have only just realised half the presents are unlabelled and have NO clue what is what it who it's for so deposits my wrapping being finished in early December I'm now frantically unwrapping and re wrapping with limited Sellotape.

glares at DH Angry

Kreeshsheesh · 24/12/2015 20:18

Caga tio smiley log - tradition in Catalonia, I believe? Xmas Smile

DragonsCanHop · 24/12/2015 20:27

There is an app.

I'm loving the idea of numbering them and then having a spreadsheet.

I currently have colour coded wrapping and a colour coded spreadsheet.

ClaireHW1978 · 24/12/2015 20:29

I have an app I use to keep track of what I've bought and how much I've spent. As I buy things they get put up in the attic. I usually buy first presents in September. I wrap spread over several nights. Some people I'll only see every few months so those presents may be delivered to them when we visit in October or November if I don't think I'll see them again before Christmas. That means my the first night of wrapping will be very early, I love that first night wrapping, feels special.

Next I wrap then parcel up and post all the presents for folks we won't see, UK and abroad, those usually go the first week of December.
Around mid December I do another night wrapping immediate family, then finally DH and I do a night wrapping up the DC's presents. We have one roll of wrap for santa's gifts, one roll of wrap for everyone else.
Presents going to others get a lovely gift tag, within the house they just get a Christmas label sticker (B&M home stores do about 50 for £1 usually) but everything gets a tag.

PennyHasNoSurname · 24/12/2015 20:32

I use "Gift List" app. List the people and budget each, then within each person list what I plan to get, price, notes if needed (i.e "get from Amazon is cheapest"), then a little bag button for when its bought and a little gift button for when it is wrapped.

Can assign a pic against names so they all get Santas Face. Once their shopping is bought and wrapped I change it to a candy cane, theb when it has been delivered/given out, it changes to a sleigh.
