...how do you remember what each thing is? Or do you not care? I put post it notes on to remind me but have been known to forget them on there, so had to whisk in quickly to scoop them off Blush

Santa presents get wrapped in different paper for each child and listed in my notebook under stocking.

All other presents for Dh and the kids are listed and then marked with a number on the back of the gift tag which corresponds to the list so you can tell what's inside. This is anal but worked well this year when we needed to find one present and open it and I could pick it out immediately - oh but that was also because I note what kind of wrapping paper it's in (eg striped, hearts, tartan).

Presents for people outside the family are just ticked off as they're wrapped because they don't get many presents each iyswim?

Ive always taken photos as it helps me realise how fair things are going to look etc. However, dc are now much more interested in my phone and gallery so may need to move to an app!

Omg I can't wrap early, or I forget. This Xmas day I was still wrapping for the grandkids late afternoon on Xmas day before going to see them on Xmas night. Never again, I was wrecked.

I think the more children you have the more a spreadsheet becomes the only way to be sure things are reasonably fair or an important present doesnt get missed. I had a spreadsheet at first but needed a more final list of hiding places as one bag did get lost and cause a lot of time wasting late at night on christmas eve!

I use a sharpie and write a number on the right at the bottom. I then make a page for each child in a Xmas organiser and record the number and the item. On Xmas eve I get the parcels out, check the number and tick it off in the organiser. Works brilliantly and helped me realise last year a big present was missing. Found it in the garage where it had fallen behind a box.

I just wrap in whatever paper I have and put names on in sharpie.
Stocking gifts are wrapped in tissue paper last thing on Xmas eve.
Never lost one yet.

Oh my goodness. All these years and I never knew such a thing existed.

Stickerrocks may I introduce you to Caga Tio. DS hit him this evening with a foam sword (should have been a stick, but hey ho) while singing a song, and he pooed Smarties, a Christmas torch and Polar Express dvd.

This is a pic of him a while ago. He needs to be fed and watered well in advance of Christmas so he works up rather a large 'backlog'

Happy Christmas y'all Wine

I don't understand the numbering of presents? Is it so you know each child has the same number of gifts?

What apps are you using? The one I use is the first one in this picture, top left.

I'm not sure why I'd need to know what each gift is.

DD's are wrapped and kept together, then unwrapped in a jumble so it doesn't matter what each is.

Everyone else is wrapped and gift labelled, then set aside.

I use "Gift List" app. List the people and budget each, then within each person list what I plan to get, price, notes if needed (i.e "get from Amazon is cheapest"), then a little bag button for when its bought and a little gift button for when it is wrapped.

Can assign a pic against names so they all get Santas Face. Once their shopping is bought and wrapped I change it to a candy cane, theb when it has been delivered/given out, it changes to a sleigh.

I have an app I use to keep track of what I've bought and how much I've spent. As I buy things they get put up in the attic. I usually buy first presents in September. I wrap spread over several nights. Some people I'll only see every few months so those presents may be delivered to them when we visit in October or November if I don't think I'll see them again before Christmas. That means my the first night of wrapping will be very early, I love that first night wrapping, feels special.
Next I wrap then parcel up and post all the presents for folks we won't see, UK and abroad, those usually go the first week of December.
Around mid December I do another night wrapping immediate family, then finally DH and I do a night wrapping up the DC's presents. We have one roll of wrap for santa's gifts, one roll of wrap for everyone else.
Presents going to others get a lovely gift tag, within the house they just get a Christmas label sticker (B&M home stores do about 50 for £1 usually) but everything gets a tag.

There is an app.

I'm loving the idea of numbering them and then having a spreadsheet.

I currently have colour coded wrapping and a colour coded spreadsheet.

I wrap, put tag on and then put in bags according to which house they need to go to.

My parents take all the bags for their town (i.e. my side of the family) when they visit in late Nov/early Dec. We arrange a day to swap with friends.

I buy a roll of Christmas gift tag stickers from Wilkos. They co-ordinate with the wrapping paper, write them and stick them on. I always get a surprise on Christmas morning because I've forgotten half the stuff I've got the kids.

Spreadsheet and colour coded wrapping paper.

Why do you need to remember what's in them? How much are you buying? Kids have different colour paper so I don't have to label them all and bar a few small bits I've a good idea of what they have. Family and friends get 1 possibly 2 presents each and I gift tag them and just remember what I've bought.

Spreadsheets? Apps? Photos of presents? Confused

I have a list then I put a tag on the presents as I wrap them, I have no need for it to be any more complicated or any nee to know what each one is once it's wrapped as long as it goes to the right person!

I just have a notebook with lots of scribbles. When I wrap, I tag.
It works.

For the kids I put their first initial in the corner of each present so I know whose is whose - luckily they all have a different initial. Relatives get gift tags put on them as I wrap.

Seriously?? Spread sheets, colour coded wrapping paper?? Maybe this is why I don't like Christmas as I don't have these things in my life.

Report
Sgtmajormummy · 24/12/2015 19:58

This year I put a small white sticker on each present with the recipient's name on, thinking I could peel them off when they went into piles.

BUT the wrapping paper ink and the sticker glue are incompatible, as I found out this evening with DD's Christmas duvet cover, leaving a visible white patch where it peeled off...

They're just going to stay on now. Life's too short.
