We pretty much do the same thing every year.

Cinema in the morning
Christingle Service in the afternoon, then home where the elves have left new PJ's and a DVD.
Party tea whilst watching DVD
Sprinkle reindeer dust, read 'The Night Before Christmas' and then sort out a mince pie for F.C and children to bed.

We've checked the cinema near us, and none of us really fancy anything thats on. DC are 7 & 5.

Inspire me with what you do to make the day fun for the little people.

We take cards & homemade mince pies to a couple of elderly neighbours in the morning
Take the dog for a nice long walk
Homemade festive shaped pizzas for early tea
Usually play a card game after tea (this year I've bought festive cards)
Then attack the Xmas Eve hamper; Xmas bath bomb, Xmas pj's, Xmas DVD with popcorn, Xmas cups with hot choc & marshmallows, reindeer dust, plate for Santa and reindeer dust
Once the kids are in bed me & DP have a little drink and set out the presents/fill stockings

Bonkerz · 23/12/2015 17:55

Doctors for an injection and then cinema followed by quick trip to local co op for pigs in blankets then home where Santa will have delivered Xmas eve bags for the DCs and we will watch Xmas movies and build a ginger bread reindeer!

Smoothyloopy · 23/12/2015 18:21

Lazy breakfast with the DC's. Walk in the woods with the dog & lunch in the dog friendly cafe. Christmas movie in the afternoon. Evening at my parents for a buffett tea then we all (humans & dogs) walk around the village to look at the lights.

Tournesol · 23/12/2015 18:22

Hopefully if weather OK nice walk in the woods in the morning.

Then home for light lunch, play some games together, watch Home Alone, eat special dinner together, open Xmas PJs, set out stockings, kids abed.

Then DH and I will crack open the wine and watch telly before doing stockings. Can't wait!

MillieMoodle · 23/12/2015 18:33

Ah it's lovely reading what you're all up to. I'm at work, couldn't get the day off. And they've announced today that they won't be letting us go early, so I won't be home before 6.30pm. DH has been given the day off, he found out today. So he's taking DS to his parents so they can look after him to deliver presents. Once I get home we'll have dinner (fry up!), DS will have bath and bed, we'll put the presents round the tree and I'll go to midnight mass, which is very helpfully at 10pm at our local church, so shouldn't be home too late! Hope you all have a good 'un!

SheGotAllDaMoves · 23/12/2015 18:56

I will head off to the baker for my bread order as soon as I wake up.

DH, DC and I will have a large breakfast when I get back and do a last minute tidy up before guests arrive (between 3-6pm). This year there will be 8 arriving.

I will roast a huge piece of pork and make hot sandwiches for supper.

DD and DH will insist on watching Polar Express. Much champagne will be drunk. I try to get everyone to bed before midnight.

Lovelydiscusfish · 23/12/2015 19:02

Big walk in the morning.
Lunch at my cousin's with loads of family.
Then back to my mom and dad's. Brother will be there too. Imagine some Baileys may be consumed by me!

ToastedStoat · 23/12/2015 19:03

We don't have any traditions with regards the daytime, as it depends on what we are doing, whether dh is working and what shift, whether ds is with us or not etc.

Tomorrow dh is working from 7.30 until 2.30. I'm having my hair cut, my mum is looking after my little ones while I do that. Then back to mum's, for Christmas baking and maybe a film. Probably will end up hanging out there until dh finishes work. Then home, another film probably. Baths, during which time the elves will visit with everyone's new pjs, hot chocolate and bed. All our wrapping is done and we aren't hosting so a nice relaxed evening for dh and I. Soooooooo excited!

OublietteBravo · 23/12/2015 19:06

I'm at work tomorrow - I'm the most senior person there, so I'll be hoping for a quiet day with no horrible surprises.

INeedACheeseSlicer · 23/12/2015 19:06

Not much. Cooked breakfast.
If the weather is nice, we might go for a walk in the woods in the morning. Otherwise I have brought a Christmassy DVD to watch, and we might play a board game.
Crusty rolls and cheese for late lunch, for those that want to eat anything after the aforementioned breakfast.
Children's crib service at 3pm.
Change the sheets and tidy the bedrooms, and lay out the stockings all ready for FC.
Roast dinner in the evening, then bath, and new PJ's (wrapped under the tree).
We will read The Night Before Christmas and the Nativity story from the children's bible.
Off to bed. Once the DC are asleep, DH and I can wrap their main presents and leave them under the tree, and creep in to fill up the stockings.

Marrou · 23/12/2015 19:07

We are at Center Parcs for Christmas so we will be seeing Father Christmas, going swimming, playing tennis then watching some Christmas tv before eating lasagne. It is totally magical here Smile

Runwayqueen · 23/12/2015 19:09

I'm working 5am/3pm so nothing special during the day. We are taking dd to see Star Wars at tea time, but it will be followed by another early night ready for my 5am start Christmas Day.

Normally we would take dd to panto and for Christmas Eve lunch, to make up for me working we have done that today and yesterday

Ragwort · 23/12/2015 19:12

Working all day; DH and DS (teenager) can prepare the veg for Christmas Day, one guest arriving for the evening, planning a fondue and then Midnight Mass. Smile. All wrapping done, put DS's stocking in his room when I get back from Church.

FelixFelix · 23/12/2015 19:15

I don't have any plans at all! DD (2) is poorly with a temperature and awful cough. I've done all of the housework today, and everything else is finished (apart from food shop for fresh stuff which I'll do tonight). All I need to do is ice and decorate my fruit cake!

myotherusernameisbetter · 23/12/2015 19:17

At your DC age OP we always took ours swimming - pool generally quiet, it tires them out and saves bathing them when they get home :) Dinner/dvd/ santa stuff and bed.

Now mine are teens. Me and DH working, me working at home so I can cook the turkey. Early evening is clearing up/having dinner/making soup. Then all into living room to watch a movie. This year we have The Great Escape :) Teens will spend rest of day on PCs :( No one wants to go swimming or anything else anymore.

FilthyRascal · 23/12/2015 19:24

We have breakfast with Santa booked at our local garden centre which we are all really looking forward to.
Then home for in laws to arrive
Late lunch of Brie and cranberry rolls
Church for carol service
Home to see if the Chrismas hamper has arrived, film, baths, hot choc, bed for dc.
Then we have lots of tex mex food and play parlour games until collapsing into bed far too late having drunk far too much wine! Grin
I love it - all the anticipation and excitement makes it really special.

OrangeNoodle · 23/12/2015 19:25

Finish off the wrapping, bake a ham with my brother, make some mince pies with the DCs, drink some mulled wine, Christingle at village church followed by a cosy drink in the pub, venison pie and greens for dinner, carols from kings with prosecco, early bed after doing Xmas stocking duties Xmas Grin

CPtart · 23/12/2015 19:39

I'm working until 1pm, then home to prep veg with DH, quick clean up and out for tea. We like to be home and in our PJ's by seven though, glass of wine and traditional Xmas story, reindeer food and NORAD with the DC (now 13 and 10 and more for my benefit than theirs I think).

SisterViktorine · 23/12/2015 19:54

Christmas Eve Box opening first thing then prepare house for Santa to be able to 'find' it. Reindeer food, signs for Santa etc. are in C-E box.

Walk on the beach and then Panto just after lunch. Snacks and glowies for this are in C-E box.

Christmas film in the late afternoon (Polar Express this year- in C-E box).

Leave stuff out for Santa, bed in new PJs with Christmas book (both in C-E box).

Mummy and Daddy drink champagne (in C-E box).

Can you see that we went in for the Christmas Eve Box this year?? Xmas Grin

SixtyFootDoll · 23/12/2015 20:05

JemimaMuddledUp · 23/12/2015 20:10

I'm working until lunchtime.

Good morning and Happy Christmas Eve from AustraliaGrin

It's 7.20 am here, I've already collected the turkey, ham, and been to the green grocers.
Remembered from last year that butcher was stuffing turkeys with their stuffings and decided to let them do it this year, so just saved myself 2 hours (no extra charge except of course for the stuffing).

Stricked no screens rule being flaunted by ds1&2, been watching Lego batman movie thing since 6.30 Hmm DH Is sleeping in as he's actually taken the day off. He knows it's probably going to be a rocky day as he will need to pitch in an awful lot.

Friends coming over for tea this afternoon, if we get that far.

Unfortunately something is unraveling a little bit and I may need neighbour to drive me to hospital for psych assessment. .we were going to go last night but in the end i just wanted to sleep.

This morning pushing on for a couple of hours and hoping I'll feel a bit better at some point. Crappy timing, and a bit scared. Meanwhile, going to watch something Christmassy and think about wrapping stuff.
