ANGEL CHIMES

I know they're really cheesy, but they're special to me. My grandmas both had them, and my mum has them too. I've looked endlessly in shops for years, and around Christmas time for the last two or three years I've never found anyone with availability on the net.

But dh had remembered and bought some for me, and loads of candles, so I can light it every day

I love them too but don't have any. PIL have some and I really like them lit on Christmas day. A close friend has the wooden German version, and I really like that too. Well done Roisin's DH!

helenhismadwife · 15/12/2006 20:46

aww they are nice we had them when we were kids. I did have some I bought them a few years ago in past times not seen them in there this year though

janeite · 15/12/2006 20:52

OMG I am soooo jealous. I've wanted angel chimes ever since I read about them in a story as a child and I have never ever seen any in real life. Not fair!!!

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 15/12/2006 20:53

What are angel chimes?

Troutpout · 15/12/2006 21:08

yes... i need to know too

doyouwantfrankincensewiththat · 15/12/2006 21:09

but the noise drives you mad after a while surely, esp. when they go really fast.

oooh, I have these too and I love them

dh doesn't like them

you can get them at German markets (I saw gorgeous ones at the one in Edinburgh recently)

mine is the cheapy brassy version and it takes about an hour to assemble each year

John Lewis sell replacement wee candles if you need them

SpicymulledSheraz · 15/12/2006 21:13

Oh I had those as a little girl, they were lovely. i want some too. What a clever Dh you have.

fiiiivemadmarchhaaaares · 15/12/2006 22:28

Thanks for the picture. I can honestly say I have never ever seen one of those before.

We had them as children too - lovely sound. Have been disappointed with a set i bought a few years ago as they never seemed to work properly and needed a little push which detracts from the romance of them just a touch. They were suspiciously cheap though.

Hope your work well Roisin

I have never seen these before but they are lovely! I love Christmas and candles so thanks to you I have used the link and ordered one!! Thanks again

mamama · 16/12/2006 00:03

Cheesy or not, I LOVE angel chimes. We had them when I was growing up, just like the one doyouwantfrankincense linked too. I am so envious. My mum threw ours away when we left home and for some reason, I haven't been allowed them with DH but may have to invest... thank you for reminding me. Enjoy them

blossomsmine · 19/12/2006 00:04

I just had to let you know, guess what turned up on my doorstep this morning, my angel chime!! How is that for service I ordered it late on Friday evening after reading this thread and it was here today! I love it thanks again for the link!

divamumdiva · 19/12/2006 18:57

what does it do?

blossomsmine · 19/12/2006 23:20

Its a metal decoration with candles in the bottom and then angels and chimes above that revolve when the candles are lit (sorry really difficult to explain!) I love it!
