..bring the 'main gift'?
If so, do your LOs get a present from you as well?
Am getting myself very confused

The main present is from us, but we send it to FC so he can deliver it.

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 14/12/2006 13:49

I think everyone is different ! I had this conversation with dh the other night as he said I should be careful with dd (almost 2) seeing me wrap other people's presents in future as she would then know they weren't from Father Christmas. I said that FC only brings stocking presents not those under the tree whereas his had all come from FC.

I have decided my way is the right way (of course !) but guess its up to you !

MrsBadger · 14/12/2006 13:50

here in the BadgerSett, Father Christmas only fills stockings (mostly small/cheap things, though with the odd more-expensive-but-small book / cd type thing)

Everything under the tree is from People - can't be doing with Santa wandering into the living room

nogoeswithbellson · 14/12/2006 13:50

We do the same as Humphrey. It is a bit daft really isn't it?

WigWamBam · 14/12/2006 13:51

Santa just delivers the presents in our house. The stocking is from him, but all the other presents are bought and wrapped by us, and they go to Santa to be delivered.

I didn't want dd thinking that the only people who don't buy her a present are mummy and daddy - and she knows the rest come from other people as (a) they have labels on and (b) she has to write thank-yous. Plus there's no way anyone else is getting the credit for the gifts

xmasmummy · 14/12/2006 13:52

santa doesnt fill our stockings, we have a small sack of pressies from santa and the rest is from us/family

Kelly1978GotRunOverByAReindeer · 14/12/2006 13:52

we do as humphrey. We actually had to take the kids shopping with us this year, as we went to a special 25% off event at Hamleys in London, and the kids are convinced that we took all the stuff home and packed it up ready for the elves to collect on behalf of fc.

ludaloo · 14/12/2006 14:01

We are fairly lucky as none of our dc have actually asked about who gives the pressies...they just seem happy to know they get pressies!!
I have just said that we give the presents to FC who then wraps them up and delivers them on xmas day. He also leaves a stocking to say "Thank you" for his mince pie and Baileys

My friends little girl is highly inquisitive!! She had a mare last year as her dd twigged because all the pressies had the same wrapping paper! This year she found wrapping paper which actually has "from Santa" written on it.

I personally think its a bit of a faf having presents from us, presents from santa, presents from friends and family...we just say santa brings them all (apart from friends presents etc)
But as I say...our dc haven't questioned the whole santa, present thing.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 14/12/2006 14:23

Stockings from FC, tree presents from named, and acknowledged, people. We always make sure to wrap the stocking presents in paper that the LOs have never seen before!

We always put some mince pies in the stockings, together with something that each child has chosen out of his or her own toys for FC to take to children who aren't as lucky and who don't have anything. I'm still waiting for the question "But if FC gives us presents, why can't he just give them some as well?" Got to have an answwer ready!

Tortington · 14/12/2006 14:24

nothing works until the magic dust from either tinkerbell ( don't even coment) or the dwarfs - it is dwarfs in the factory right?

IlanaK · 14/12/2006 14:26

Santa fills children' stockings only in our house. We have told older ds that mummy and daddy fill each other's stockings. Santa is also leaving one present each for the children under the tree and we have the rest from us (plus any others that have been given by friends and family). This year i had to get special Santa paper too as I thought older ds would notice if his presents were wrapped in paper he had seen me use.

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 14/12/2006 15:17

custardo, surely it's elves?
prettycandles, i love the idea of giving stuff to santa to pass on.

OP posts:
Tortington · 14/12/2006 17:11

elves - yes i meant elves - i know it was wrong when i wrote it - it all seems ooo long agoooo

paulaplumpbottom · 14/12/2006 18:14

Santa brings all the gifts at our house.

baubleweed · 14/12/2006 18:56

Santa fills your stocking

He also brings the main present - otherwise what would be the point of children writing to him and asking for a bike or a playstation or a doll?

But mummy and daddy also give presents as do other friends and relatives.

Ones that are handed over before christmas are enticingly under the tree but are only joined on Christmas eve by Santa's and mummy and daddy's.

Leslaki · 14/12/2006 19:01

baubleweed,
we're the same! Santa brings most but there are a few from us mainly cos a few were discovered by inquisitive little children!

poppiesinalinewithtinsel · 14/12/2006 19:59

We do the same as WigWamBam.

Tommy · 14/12/2006 20:18

In our house, Father Christma brings astocking full of litle (not expensive) things and everything else is from everyone else.

likewise, in our house, no-one "asks" Santa for anything

wangle99 · 14/12/2006 20:36

Santa only does our stocking, everything under the tree is either from us or other relatives. Couldn't be bothered with wrapping sending to FC wouldn't have anywhere to hide them lol

LOL, that sums up my dilemma nicely, DS1 also five and inquisitive/thoughtful.

dmo · 14/12/2006 20:57

we have stocking from santa with bits and bobs in colouring books, colours, top trump cards, teddy, football, book, £1 stuff
all the big presents are from dh and me

very funny though cause last year boys opened stockings and played with items very happily till 1pm ish all grandparents etc phone to say happy christmas and what did fc bring you?
the boys trail off a list of c**p and grandparents are like yes but what big thing did he bring you.........bless

Peridot30 · 14/12/2006 20:58

We do the same as PaulaFB. All the pressies left on Christmas morning (stocking and sack)are from Santa however we have told kids that we have to send Santa money. God i amaze myself at how easy i can lie!

All other presents throughout the day are from relations and are gift tagged.

crazydazy · 14/12/2006 21:02

Things kids say are so funny. DD is so skeptical about Santa and keeps asking questions, a belter was "okay Mum if there is only one Santa who was the santa when he was a little boy?"

Was not sure what to say so managed to change the subject
