am paying for it all out of own pocket so need to get as much value for money as poss given that its also the week before christmas!

so ive thought
60 triangle sandwhiches (ham/cheese/tuna?)
60 Mini chipolata type sausages
30 fairy cakes
30 cornflake cakes
30 bags of crisps( or 15 split into bowls?)
30 little boxes of raisins
60 mini jaffa cakes
30 bread sticks
Lots of diced cheese
a million cartons of sugar free juice to cool them all down............
3 lots of quad dips (garlic/salsa/cuc n mint etc)what am i missing?????
plus am working (childminding that day too, so it all needs to be easy peasy to do!)

instead of tuna i would do jam sandwiches
and "normal" juice instead of sugar-free
wouldn't bother with dips
satsuma segments in bowls

BettySpaghetti · 14/12/2006 13:48

Do you have a Lidl near you?
You could pick up a lot of that for cheaper than other supermarkets eg. they do a cheaper version of Jaffa cakes, lots of party type food, dips, very cheap juice etc

xmasmummy · 14/12/2006 13:51

wouldnt bother with the dips, would do prob 80 cheese/ham sarnies, deffo sugar free drinks, would do 30 long bread sticks broken in half, would deffo try lidl or aldi or even morrisons if you have one close by

StrawberrySnowflakes · 14/12/2006 14:13

well i go to morrisons and we have an aldi up road, i may venture up there in morning as their jaffa caskes are gorgeous and theyre something like 65p for 18!

really not sugar free drinks?

I got a pack (can't remember if it was 5 or 6) of apple juices from aldi for 89p this week.

aspartame is yukky - why not give them just fruit juice?

StrawberrySnowflakes · 14/12/2006 18:03

thought the sugary stuff would be more frowned upon?

Sugar free juice makes my ds go dippy - blue smarties style . . . !

We always do large jugs of squash at our softplay parties, with millions of paper cups (or better, stickers, so that they can reuse theirs) as they want to drink every 15 mins or so.

StrawberrySnowflakes · 14/12/2006 18:11

does it!..i did think of jug of juice with cups but after the 3..yes 3 soft play parties i went ot last week and seeing how much juice was cascading over the table onto the floor, ill stick with cartons or something equally as safe!

Don't blame you. Food sounds fine to me, though IME fewer sandwiches are fine. Ours don't seem to eat much, but I guess that varies from group to group . . .

mini bottles of plain water go down well (with name labels) but probably more expensive than juice, strangely.
