JARMgotstuckupthechimney · 14/12/2006 10:31

we only have a small house now and the HUGE tree we have just doesnt look right, and becky has just started walking and will pull it to pieces.... well, its not worth the aggro!

Loshad · 14/12/2006 10:46

still have to chop said tree down (it's mess at the bottom - 4 feet of no branches) but the top looks fine so will have to trim the trunk - sat probably

MamaG · 14/12/2006 10:47

JARM please put some sort of tree up! Or decs - can you buy a teeny tiny tree that could go out of Becky's reach?

I think you need cheering up

colditz · 14/12/2006 11:07

When ds1 was coming up to 2 year old, we had one of those 12 inch christmas trees from Poundland! It sat perched on our presents.

mozhe · 14/12/2006 11:35

Yes moondog, been in about 4 weeks now roughly.....it's lovely ! We are really looking forward to doing things a la francaise !!!!

NotAnOtter · 14/12/2006 11:37

no decs up in our house

Dottydotthehalls · 14/12/2006 11:42

We're doing it this weekend. It was ds1's birthday on December 7th so we wait until that's all done and dusted.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 11:44

Not having a tree or decorations here either.

MrsBadger · 14/12/2006 11:45

Not yet, probably at the weekend though

Will once again buy a leftover reduced funny-looking reject orphan tree from B&Q and nurture it with love and tinsel.

Had a great book somewhere that had a list of ways to deal with trees with too many / not enough branches, that were wonky, top heavy, bottom heavy, shedding etc
The best tip I remember for a sickly yellowing tree was to splosh it with white paint and sprinkle with glitter (in the garden of course) - think we might need to do that this year...

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 14/12/2006 11:47

I really want to put the tree up, but we are moving house on the 22nd and are away at my parents from the 23rd until 28th so there doesn't seem any point, but it doesn't feel very christmassy without it .

cazzybabs · 14/12/2006 11:48

We don't put ours up till Xmas eve...have cards up though!

JARMgotstuckupthechimney · 14/12/2006 11:51

i think soapy is sending me a tiny tree so we can put it out of the girls reach. a shame really because I LOVE CHRISTMAS and it just doesnt feel it this year!

choosyfloosy · 14/12/2006 11:53

Some cards are up. Every time I think about decs I think 'oh but dh won't like them' when he probably won't particularly mind either way. Will prob go for ivy-gathering walk this w/e.

snowydelight · 14/12/2006 12:09

We'll get our tree on Saturday. It's always a family expedition and DH works too late during the week.

ashoesandbagsbird · 14/12/2006 12:56

We havn't got ours up either, Bought the tree but its in the garage. Awaiting some energy, enthusiasm and time. Same for Xmas shopping.

yeahinamanger · 14/12/2006 13:04

No tree or cards up 'til Friday 22nd PM

Although we do have Mary and Joseph making their way through the sitting room to Bethlehem (dining room) inch by painful inch, where they will arrive at the stable (on the carving table) on the evening of the 24th - we have added a couple of sheep on and off and then miraculously Baby Jesus will appear in his crib overnight .... then the shepherds, then on the Epiphany the Wise men will call ....

Reminds me of the card with Mary and Joseph (she heavily preggers on donkey) with Bethlehem twinkling in the distance ......

CAPTION: " So I'm 9 months pregnant, it's Christmas Eve and now you tell me you haven't made reservations .... useless Twat"

poppiesinalinewithtinsel · 14/12/2006 13:08

LOL yeahinamanger

We haven't yet. Will do it at the weekend.

suedonim · 14/12/2006 13:10

It's far too early to have a tree up! Ours will go up over the weekend or into next week.
