I'm sitting here, drinking wine, admiring the christmas tree the kids have decorated, thinking about how many more presents to buy. And then seeing the news and thinking about all those poor parents and children of the girls who've been murdered. And all those people starving in the world. Shit, really isn't it?

Sorry, I always get a bit like this at Christmas. Just feeling very guilty about how lucky I am to be me.

Yes. Perspective is a wonderful thing.

don;t think you need to feel guilty, especially as you have enough compassion and empathy to spare a thought for others at this time of year....rather than feeling, 'i;m alright, sod everyone else!'

you should be able to relax and enjoy a lovely home and your kids and have a relaxing time.....why not?

I think enjoying your own little world is wonderful. We are wrapped up in our problems but keeping some perspective is a good thing too. Tonight I watched my DD and her fellow Brownies and Guides putting on a nativity and carol service. I was a bit choked with emotion at DD's smiling face singing away but even more so when the collection was for a local children's hospice. I thank my lucky stars I am able to contribute but my babies don't need it's help.

Enjoy your lovely tree and your lovely kids. I'll be doing the same thing once DH goes and gets our tree this weekend!

I know, but somehow I still feel guilty. We did away with buying presents for extended family last year, instead making a donation to charity. It helped ease the guilt a little, but I still hate the idea that anyone has to suffer. And no matter how much you give, it's never enough. It's such an unfair world.
