Food to take to a party?

any really easy, wow finger foods that I can take to a party please? Happy to do a bit of cooking as long as it doesnt require any presentation skills.

ready bought blinis with a dollop of sour cream, a curl of smoked salmon and a sprig of dill or a tiny spoonful of red or black fish roe (cheap caviar/ Squeeze of lemon and some black pepper. Always popular.

or mini quiches. You can use ready made short crust pastry in a jam tart or fairy cake tray. Add beaten egg, cream, tiny bit of nutmeg and black pepper, with crumbled feta and spinach or blue cheese and chopped walnuts or diced lardons and grated cheddar. Whatever you fancy. Realy easy to make and popular.

Wrap smoky streaky bacon around pitted prunes . Roast until bacon crispy and prunes are treacly . Yum

:) I like these. Quiches sound easy to transport.

If you're looking for desserts, I highly recommend Nigella's gluten free brownies.

I'm making them alongside DH's pavlova for Christmas Day. Best done a day before and left to chill, firms them up so they have bite on the outside but still gooey and chocolatey in the middle.

Can cut them up so that they are bitesize too.

On the back of Nigella Brownies ............Nigella Olive Oil Cake

It's wheat free/dairy free but does contain almonds.
Lighter than a Brownie but yummy and keeps a couple of days.

(I add a few dark chocolate chips , might try some walnuts next time)

I really fancy the mini feta and spinach quiches now. Definitely going to try those. Not made mini quiches since the dds were small and took them in their lunch boxes.

I'd make fairy cakes - proper, old school ones with sprinkles, or butterfly cakes. They always go down very well with adults and are ridiculously easy.

I might try the blue cheese and walnut quiches, except when I bake it really does look homemade.

Maybe I should stick with a cheese and pineapple on sticks hedgehog

I always bring bruschetta- baguette pan fried with some olive oil, blue cheese base and torn Parma ham on. Top with walnut halves or figs and drizzle honey. Look and taste fantastic, can make lots quickly and easily!

I took homemade hummus and fresh breadsticks to a party last year and they were a hit. This year I'm looking at doing something different but what? There are usually tons of quiches so don't want to do one of those!

Glassofwine how about some proper cheese straws, or HM naan bread with mango chutney and some sort of curry based dip? Or mexican - guacamole and "real" tortilla chips

I have a good cheat's recipe for cheese straws. Buy ready made shortcrust pastry in a block (not ready rolled.)
Put the cheese you want to use through the grater setting on a food processor (or grate by hand) then do the same with the pastry. Add a few very well bashed walnuts and a small spoonful each of sesame, poppy and caraway seeds. Mix together, cut into strips and bake.

Vol-au-vents - buy the cases frozen.

I usually do chicken and mushroom, and cheese and caramelised onion as a vegetarian option. Last time I did salmon and cucumber which all disappeared very quickly!
