I love coming on the Christmas board to see what everyone has bought their dc but I can't seem to find one yet this year. So what are they all getting?

OP posts:
xalyssx · 09/12/2015 20:50

And lots of books

traviata · 09/12/2015 21:01

DD 14 and DS 12:

DS is getting an upgrade to his PC.
DD has had some bedroom furniture.

To share;
Toastie maker
Big box of books
3 new family board games (7 Wonders, Pandemic, Mysterium which hasn't arrived yet)
WWF sponsored animal each

A stocking each. I spend a fair bit on the stockings, they are part of the present. DD's contains Tweezerman tweezers, film for her Polaroid camera, makeup, scented tealights etc, as well as fun silly stuff. DS has puzzles and sciencey things, a scarf, and other things I can't remember.

DD just had a birthday and got gig tickets, £ and clothes.
DS is about to have a birthday and will get ...something. I've got him tickets for Dynamo, a Tetris light, some things for his room, T shirts, and yet more books.

They have generous family on both sides, so I try to rein it in a bit at Christmas otherwise the amount they are opening becomes ridiculous.

The dog has an advent calendar and a puzzle food dish.

Commandments - I got the Great British Bake Off one from the Book People as it seemed good for a beginner and only £4 ish - the James Morton ones have really good reviews too.

rudolphistheboss · 09/12/2015 21:22

Dd3 - pjs, Roald Dahl books, famous five annual, playmobil ambulance, frozen moccasins, Disney princess jigsaw, chocolate reindeer and chocolate coins.

Ds1 - rhyming book and cd, wooden building blocks, slipper socks, a wooden train, some duplo.

Also got dd a bright orange duvet cover and pillow set and going to change them over to the new ones while she sleeps on Christmas eve. She loves the colour orange and has since she could express a preference so I'm hoping she'll be excited by the magic of waking up in a different bed to the one she went to sleep in!

It sounds like a hell of a lot but I'm an avid Xmas bargain thread reader and got the majority at a discount. The bike was £40!! Home Bargains, B&M and CamelCamelCamel are my friends!

The above presents plus gifts for immediate family (2 sets of parents, 5 siblings plus their partners, my nan, 5 nieces and nephews) and my friends' kids have come in at a tiny bit over £1000. I'm a bargain queen!

OSETmum · 09/12/2015 21:52

DS (6) has:

A trials push bike
A minions helmet
A keyboard and stand
A keyboard music book
A microphone
Headphones
A Bluetooth speaker
Liverpool fc kit
A globe
The 1st 2 Harry Potter books
2 easy airfix sets
A poo emoji cushion
Spy pens

His stocking is relatively small with some chocolate coins, mini nerf gun, bubble gum, a magic flannel, Squirty foam soak and hair gel.

He did have a Marvel shower gel/ shampoo/ aftershave set but he looked in the bag it was in and is now wafting around smelling like a teenager 😂

whoseafraidofnaomiwolf · 09/12/2015 21:59

Stockings for all, Aldi selection box for all, plus ....

DD (19) - Jewellery box, luffly fluffy dressing gown, fairy lights, skirt & top, scarf & bed socks & a CD.

DS1 (18) - Lego star wars set, a book, new phone, & a silly gift (he's really tough to buy for as he seems to have few needs/wishes - like the £50 coin idea - I think I might add that in too)

DS2 (15) - Lego star wars set, triangle pillow (spends a lot of time in bed), new wallet (those things aren't flipping' cheap are they?!), driving lesson (under 17's car club), Bernard Cornwell book & a book on war.

DS3 (12) - Blow up chair, fluffy onesie, Thor hammer, cuddly toy, CD & book.

DP (37Biscuit) - High viz 'POLITE' vest for his motorbike, & an Indiana Jones style hat,

Plus a game for the whole family - Carcassone.

Like Kinky have also spent £££££.
Every. year. I can't believe how it all adds up.

imwithspud · 09/12/2015 22:02

I love these kind of threads!

DD1 (3) has:
Wooden Dolls house, the Asda one & furniture set - I'm in the process of adding wallpaper and flooring to the inside, I felt it was a bit plain. It won't be perfect but I wanted to add that personal touch.
Toy Baking Set for her kitchen.

Frozen DVD
Chocolate Coins
Raccoon Rumpus Game
Craft Set

I think that's everything, she's got stuff from family too including a motorised car Hmm and the ELC wooden car garage.

GoodGriefCharlieBrown · 09/12/2015 22:14

It's lovely reading all these getting ideas and seeing the thought that goes into the whole package. I haven't got a lot as we are a bit skint:

DS is 2.5:
set of Duplo bricks
big Duplo base
set of 10 animal story books in a little carry bag
His stocking so far consists of:
a plastic duck for the bath (wind it up and the feet propel it)
a little wooden flamingo that collapses when you press in the base then pings up again
a purse in the shape of a dog's face (DH not convinced but I love the idea of him having his own pocket money and being able to choose a little thing to buy sometimes!)
Would like to get some sweets buthe has lots of food allergies so it all depends on whether I have the energy to make some or not!)

I'm hoping to return and find lots more ideas for little stocking fillersGrin

Nothing for DH - we are going to save up (and drag ourselves into the 21st century) for an MP3 player and speaker type combo.

imwithspud · 09/12/2015 22:14

Oh and for DP (28) I've got him:
PS4 Uncharted Bundle & Fifa 16 - He has no idea, thinks we're getting one after Christmas with money we get gifted put towards it. He was looking at PS4 deals the other day and I had to feign interest which was really hard!
Golf Shoe bag & golf club cleaning kit
2 Pairs of Marvel Socks
Watch

I could get loads more but I'm restraining myself.

BeaBoo · 09/12/2015 22:16

I've just got the one DD who turns 2 a few days before Christmas.

I've bought:
A baby doll with accessories. I'm really excited about this as she will LOVE it.

Happyland pet set (5 different little Happyland animal characters)

Happyland 'mystery bag'

Retro jelly bag

Wooden skittles

She will also get a new toothbrush, a hair brush, chocolate coins and a satsuma in her stocking Smile

For her birthday she will have a balance bike and ELC version of play doh with an accessory set (stampers etc).

I was only planning on buying one present as she will get a lot from family, and stuff for her birthday too but it's hard to resist when you find a bargain!

I'm feeling very pleased as all of DS's stuff has been paid for by a huge pre-Christmas clearout. He's 7 and getting Lego dimensions, a couple of Lego sets, pocket microscope, quite a few books, a board game, posters for his bedroom and a few stocking bits and pieces.

He doesn't have any physically big presents, which he's always had before, so I'm trying to stop myself twitching. He'll get plenty from family too though, so he's got more than enough coming his way!

We save all year for Xmas and we do spoil them on Christmas Xmas Smile

MyIronLung · 09/12/2015 23:36

I just twitched! The playmobil Noah's ark is £30 down from £70! In Argos. I may still get the other playmobil set that's on offer on Amazon too...and that's it!

Pobspits · 09/12/2015 23:41

whatstheplanphil where did you get the footy kits?

Purplehonesty · 09/12/2015 23:44

fuzzpig I have planned to use a basic shelving unit from Argos (the type that come with a crappy canvas cover!)
Over the top I will drape a canopy which I will sew in place

The middle shelf will be the counter

Then I intend to take the other two shelves off and put them lower down at an angle sloping forwards. Bit of edging on the fronts.

Then the play food they already have will go on baskets, they've got a till for the top, some play money, a shopping basket and trolley.

They can have it up in the playroom which saves my living room being strewn with plastic food!

Hope this works!

whatstheplanphil · 10/12/2015 00:11
