is it appropriate to give my counsellor a xmas card? i've been seeing him for 18 months

I think it would be fine but don't necessarily expect one in return.

I don't think I would - a counsellor is sort of seperate from the rest of the world for me. If it was me I wouldn't.

I don't suppose a card is too much of a big deal. Might not expect one back though as DeckthehallsLaDiDaDi says.
