Haha! 1 today!

Though I suppose there's no reason why you couldn't do it in reverse!

MirandaWest · 01/12/2015 14:24

Ha ha! I had this row (well not a row we were having a joke) with my SIL yesterday - she asked what you did but she said that it makes more sense to open 24 today then it's "24 days till Christmas, 23, 22 and so on". I told her straight - you open 1 on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd and that's that! Xmas Grin

When my sister was a toddler she opened all the doors on her advent calendar in November, then stuck them back down with butter. Perhaps that genius move is an option for you?!

ChippyMinton · 01/12/2015 14:29

I have had a similar brain freeze just now with our countdown calendar - do I set it to 25 days until Christmas or 24 days until Christmas? Gah!

Costacoffeeplease · 01/12/2015 14:29

Ha ha - hilarious - yes it's number 1 on the 1st

As I am really old (50) I remember when advent calendars just had pictures, and no 24 was always a double window with a lovely nativity scene Grin

InQuiteAChristmasPickle · 01/12/2015 14:31

I remember those too Costa and I'm 32. I remember having one with chocolate and one with just pictures and the picture one was really lovely and glittery.

ChristmasZombie · 01/12/2015 14:34

I'm 30 and I definitely remember picture advent calendars. They are insanely expensive these days

Costacoffeeplease · 01/12/2015 14:35

Are they? Gosh! I don't have kids so we don't have advent calendars (plus I'm not in the U.K.)

ChristmasZombie · 01/12/2015 14:48

Yeah, you can get a chocolate one for £1, but traditional picture calendars can be £5+

wyldstile · 01/12/2015 14:49

They certainly are. 99p or cheaper for 25 chocolates, or a fiver at least for 24 pictures. And because when I was little, I had pictures and that double door on 24, that's what my kids get. And it hurts me to pay more for less, but until they rebel, that's what they've got. So far they are happy. Smile (plus their birthday is on the 24th, so they think it's also a countdown to that!)

wyldstile · 01/12/2015 14:49

X post!

Costacoffeeplease · 01/12/2015 14:51

Wish I'd kept them all I could have flogged them on eBay as genuine vintage Grin
