What food items do you have to have on your shopping list for christmas.
Mine has to include

Smoked salmon
roses chocolates
satsumas
shelled nuts
baked ham
pickles
christmas pudding
stuffing
sprouts
turkey

christmas pudding.

Posh after dinner mints, lots of nuts, chocolate coins

chestnuts
brussell sprouts
stuffing
little sausages wrapped in bacon
mince pies
brandy butter
chocolate orange
sherry

pannetone
mince pies

that's it - going to MIL's for xmas day and my mum's for boxing day

apart from what's already been said...
coffee beans - nothing like the smell of fresh coffee made with freshly ground beans!
spices for mulled wine.
wensleydale (dh is from Yorkshire and it's the only time of year we can get the proper muslin warpped ones down here) and a nice selection of other cheeses.

Broccoli (no sprouts, I can't stand them!)
Stuffing + sausage meat for the turkey

Advocaat = lemonade (for snowballs - the only time of year me and dh have them!)

Peanuts + crisps to leave in little bowls around the house if we have guests
Cava + orange juice for Buck's Fizz

champagne - for Christmas morning
fillet steak - DH and DD always have this
smoked salmon - for breakfast

can I share DH's best ever joke (he thinks)... a man was walking through a christmas fair when he spotted a delicious looking cake, but he had no money. Starving hungry and driven mad by the sweet smell he snatched the cake and started to run... at which point the stall holder pointed at him and shouted...
