Where can I buy army toys online? googled like mad with no success!

I have tried the Hamleys, Gamelys, Woolworths and ToysRus websites and there is absolutely nothing or very little. Perhaps these toys are considered too un PC?

I have been to said shops in the last few months and know each of them stocks a limited range of army toys. But I am running out of time and cannot go shopping in real life easily till next weekend when it will be manic.

Ideally my 7 year old son wants an army bunker or look-out tower for those 3 or 4 inches action force/combat force figures. I have seen them so know they exist, but just cannot find them online anywhere. Even ebay seems to have a poor selection of army toys - I cannot find much anyway.

Ds has lots of soldiers and vehicles in this particular size range, but always wants more and I have promised him some for christmas.

Help!!

(And is there a conspriracy to keep army toys off online toy websites? Or are they just not very popular?)

tigermoth · 10/12/2006 16:03

try military as a search word?

tamum · 10/12/2006 16:08

Is this any good? I don't know much about the scale of these things...

tigermoth · 10/12/2006 16:14

used 'military' and got a few more things up, but mostly model building kits, not toys. This is really irritating, as my son has been buying toy soldier sets for ages.

Any of these ?

tigermoth · 10/12/2006 16:16

thanks tamum - but again, it looks to me like a model builders set, not a ready made toy.

tamum, you are link queen!

But still not luck. Just looked on ebay link - all of them either adult war games items or models to make, or collectable retro GT Joe toys (so go for lots of money)

All I want is a simple, ready made plastic bunker toy suitable for a 7 year old... I have seen them in the shops from time to time. I think its an online conspiracy!

balsa wood, cereal packets and papier mache?

nutcracker · 10/12/2006 16:29

Woolies do an Action squad command centre but it's out of stock online. Can you not get to a store ??

tigermoth · 10/12/2006 16:31

no time for balsa wood, this isn't the 1960s you know

There are whole toy ranges of 3 or 4 inch soldiers, air craft, tanks, etc etc - Chad Valley is just one of the toy manufacturers who do them(and yes, I have googled Chad Valley).

I just cannot find the ranges online.

the 1960s that's where fiofio is supposed to be..I must check up on her

nutcracker · 10/12/2006 16:33

They do this , i found it by putting in the code out of the book, but it's out of stock

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 10/12/2006 16:36

I think woolworths own chad valley

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 10/12/2006 16:40

this is the woolies but mostly out of stock

tigermoth · 12/12/2006 08:03

Thanks all of you for looking. I think I will have to phone some shops direct, see if they will reserve something and go in person to pick it up.

Christmas wouldn't be christmas without some minor shopping crisis after all
