Canadian things for a big suprise

Hi all

I'm suprising my dad with a trip to Canada in April for his Christmas however as I don't have anything "physical" to get him I'm looking for 4-5 ideas that I can wrap up to give him that are iconic of Canada.

I'm thinking I'll make him open them in sequence, finally opening an envelope that contains his e-ticket. So far I'm thinking a Canadian flag (at the end obviously), jar of maple syrup and maybe a toy bear. Any other ideas??

I was very fortunate as a child and my parents took me all around the world, which wouldn't have been cheap. I'm super close to my dad and we both went to New York together in February and it was very special.

ItsaTenfromDen · 19/11/2015 21:48

Pigleychez · 19/11/2015 21:49

A book or travel guide of Canada? Although that might be a huge give away

ItsaTenfromDen · 19/11/2015 21:49

forgot to say that's an amazing gift, well done you

NameRanger · 19/11/2015 21:51

Something to do with hockey?

mumtoone84 · 19/11/2015 21:51

Haha rocky biscuits is a great idea and very inexpensive. He loves biscuits it's a bit of a running joke so if that's the first present he opens he'll not get the surprise!! Great idea!!

TheSpottedZebra · 19/11/2015 22:11

Ice wine? They have some in lidl or aldi coming up.

Or double denim - the good old Canadian tuxedo.

Or music. Not Bieber, obvs -that would be mean.

mumtoone84 · 19/11/2015 22:16

Thanks kbear. Badge might be better than a massive flag and I can put it in a jewellery box! Anyone know where I can buy a single bottle of moose head beer?

duckbilled · 20/11/2015 05:22

A small potted maple tree? I bought one a few months ago for a few pounds from Homebase. It would be a lasting reminder.
