He is absolutely dreadful to buy for. Works a lot and does long hours so not much hobby time. He like star gazing but has a telescope, makes home brew but has a lot of kit, and likes campervanning. He might potter about cooking but doesnt 'do' gadgets so pretty much everything I thought of has been discounted Angry

This is made worse by the fact he is 60 3 days after christmas so it's either a small christmas present and a big birthday present or some sort of joint thing.

Any suggestions?!

Coffee machine
Swiss Army Knife
Membership of some organisation he may like e.g. national Trust, astronomical society
Monthly delivery box of something he likes e.g. Cheese or cocktails

Breadmaking course?

MyFriendsCallMeOh · 15/11/2015 18:43

My dad was 70 this autumn and we bought him a chef for a day experience in a top restaurant, then we joined him at the chefs table in the kitchen for dinner. I don't think he's drawn breath to stop raving about it ever since. Could you get him an experience for his birthday? My dad would also have loved a flight in a vintage plane or a drive in a sports car etc.... Nice to have something to look forward after Christmas.....

Magazine subscription?

Annual pass to something?

FireInTheDisco · 15/11/2015 18:49

My Dad enjoys his subscription to the National Geographic, could that be something he might enjoy? He also gets the National Geographic Traveller, and there are often good deals kicking around.

Other gifts he has enjoyed have been a coffee machine, a new satchel and a Roberts retro radio (that's the extent of his relationship with technology Grin).

Name a star after him?

Does he like cars? I've got my stepfather tickets to this

He is probably one of the most difficult people to buy for ever.

They have a coffee machine, he's not a bag man and they live in the absolute middle of nowhere so any experience gifts are pretty much out due to the additional cost of getting there.

The radio is a nice idea though as is a magazine subscription. He's a very practical person so a SA knife is also a great idea.

I was going to get a stove top smoker but that was shot down in flames by my mum Angry Nice idea though if anyone else has a difficult to buy for person? I saw them on Amazon.
