stained glass window biscuits
clootie dumpling
mincemeat vodka

AbbyCadabra · 14/11/2015 22:12

3 x Buche de Noel, one for us and two for friends.
Feta cheese and oatcakes for siblings.
Two (small) decorated Christmas cakes for my Mum and MIL.
Mince pies for me, no one else likes them!

lavazzzalover · 14/11/2015 22:13

Noideatobehad · 14/11/2015 22:33

christmas cake

probably will do some mince pies and shortbread nearer the time

Last year did Mary Berry's chicken and ham pie, which was delicious so might do that again.

PennyPants · 14/11/2015 23:49

Biscuits in Christmas shapes
Christmas cake
Fairy cakes decorated festively
Chocolate log
Cheesecake and various puds
Gingerbread house

ifyoulikepinacolada · 14/11/2015 23:58

My mum is coeliac so we always make gluten free mince pies! I'll make dessert on xmas day but not sure what yet - often i do a spiced creme brulee. I also insist that no prepackaged custard crosses the threshold so make it fresh for my stepdad who likes it with his mince pies.

I'd like to try making some lebkuchen-like biscuits this year!

MirandaWest · 15/11/2015 00:03

Mince pies.

That is the limit of my making skills (they are good mince pies though Smile)

AcrossthePond55 · 15/11/2015 00:39

All Gluten Free;

Peppermint Bark Cheesecake
Mexican Chocolate cupcakes with Dulce de Leche frosting
Pumpkin Pie
Macadamia Nut Pie
Apple Crisp with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream and Caramel Sauce

I am not thinking about Christmas yet, but to our family Thanksgiving dinner, I am bringing cornbread dressing, DH is making sweet potato casserole. and together we are baking this cake:

What are you making for Xmas?
Arrowfanatic · 15/11/2015 17:28

I'll bake a cake for the kids Xmas dessert as they don't like what DH and I have.

Maybe Xmas biscuits and shortbread if I can be bothered.

Fudge and hobnobs as gifts

iamEarthymama · 15/11/2015 17:31

Can I please ask for links to those gluten free recipes please?
I am struggling to get pastry just right and want to have some festive food I can share with everyone

Bunbaker · 15/11/2015 17:32

Seneca That looks yummy. Care to share the recipe?

Bunbaker · 15/11/2015 17:35

In answer to the OP. There will only be three of us and we don't like Christmas cake and I don't think it is worth turning the kitchen into a sauna for one small Christmas pudding. I might make a buche de Noel and I will make Christmas dinner from scratch. DD might says she will make some mince pies.

AcrossthePond55 · 15/11/2015 17:38

Earthy, the GF recipes aren't online, I'm old and they're on index cards in my recipe box! They're 'regular' recipes that I've adapted. (Does anyone besides me have a recipe box anymore?)

I cheat on pastry Blush. Whole Foods does a GF pie crust that is better than anything I've ever managed on my own!

If you want any of the other recipes I'll be happy to PM you. Just let me know.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 15/11/2015 18:41

I have made christmas cake yesterday, smells yummy. On christmas eve DS2 and I will make mince pies and chocolate marshmallows, we will also ice the cake. other than that probably not much else, we used to make mint sweets, and truffles, flavoured vodka etc but got a bit sick of it all so keep to what we really like and will eat.

CoffeeAndOranges · 15/11/2015 18:57

pinacolada the BBC Good Food website has a great Lebkuchen recipe I've been making for years, since it was in the magazine. I always make twice the recipe as they freeze well. They also make nice gifts in cellophane bags.

I will have a new baby very soon so won't be making much this year but might make some gingerbread this week and freeze. Or a sticky ginger cake.

I still have a bit of mincemeat from last year so might also knock up a mincemeat Bakewell traybake for the freezer too.

Hopefully other people will also bring us nice things to eat Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/11/2015 19:55

Just the mince pies, Might do some truffles if I can find a vegan recipe.

SenecaFalls · 16/11/2015 02:27

Bunbaker It's Martha Stewart's recipe here.

Senpai · 16/11/2015 03:23

No idea. DD is allergic to eggs so I have to find recipes that are both allergen friendly and taste good. I found one, but it was a crumbly flop. Sad

I might have to just make special chocolate molds for her.

Senpai · 16/11/2015 03:24

It's also her first year she can actually eat Christmas cookies. So it will be an interesting year of experimentation.

RJnomaaaaaargh · 16/11/2015 03:28

For the first year in ages I'm buying a cake rather than making one.

I'll do nigella puddini bonbons and cranberry mincemeat pies.

Possibly some biscuits with the kids.

Lacking motivation.

mathanxiety · 16/11/2015 05:31

Various cookies which will in theory last for most of the holiday period. I have a recipe for some gingerbread cutout cookies that the DCs love to decorate even though they are not really kiddies any more, nut horns, and a Nigella one for sugar or butter cutout cookies that is really simple and delicious. The DCs also love thumbprint cookies with jam. I am also hoping to make little green meringue Christmas trees. I will make a half dozen mince pies and if they go over well another half dozen.

For Christmas Eve I will do a lemon meringue pie, Christmas Day a pumpkin pie, and once that is gone, chocolate pie. At some point I will make a buche de Noel. I might make a frangipane tart for New Years though not everyone here likes almonds so basically I will make a pie all for myself

On Christmas morning we always have cinnamon rolls.

Bunbaker · 16/11/2015 07:39

Senpai there are some lovely cake recipes on the Vegan Society website. The chocolate and raspberry cake doesn't taste at all "worthy".
