We've done these for our parents/in laws for the past couple of years. What do you put in yours? We usually try to have something boozy, something homemade, some tasty things in jars, a candle or fancy cosmetic/toiletry, and a few small gifts.

This year we would like to increase the home made aspect, and are thinking of making fudge (never done it before), jam and a pickle or chutney.

I have made home made fudge followed Rachel Allens recipe very nice.
Those hampers sound delicious, how about home made truffles and home made honeycomb? Fancy nuts? You could roast some up and flavour them yourself honey roasted with bits of honey comb and choc bites.

Xmas pudding truffles (allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/8898/christmas-pudding-truffles.aspx) always go down well round here and are easy to make - get some celephone bags or nice sweet boxes from eBay to make them more gift like. Tray bake type things also work well like this, rocky road, tiffin, etc.

You could also consider things preserved in nice bottles of oil (herbs) or alcohol (fruit)
