todayisabeautifulday · 12/11/2015 20:43

Can someone help me please? I need to buy a present/s for a ten-year-old girl. I do not really have a budget (they are going to give us hospitality and have done more for us so I'd like to get her something nice) but I have no idea what girls that age like. Can you give me some ideas?
I was thinking shower gel etc from Body Shop, but do girls that age use cream?? Or clothes? But I don't really know the size.
Thank you!

ipanicked · 12/11/2015 20:46

whoahbodyforrrm thanks for the fuze wheel thing - that's perfect for my DN! (and my DH Grin)

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2015 20:49

Thanks Boys and Bodecia Wine - wow too many to choose from on not on the highstreet! I quite like the look of these kits to make a sack for £10 as a christmas eve activity sack kit but they are maybe not quite as christmasy as I would want [santa] {dithers over merits of gorgeous but too small stockings vs sacks} .

The offer seems to have finished on GLTC but they now have 20% off wooden toys which might help someone else. www.gltc.co.uk/wooden-toys/dept/fcp-category/list

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2015 20:57

Today - boring but safe option would be an amazon voucher maybe with some fruity scented lipbalms from body shop to go with? My 8 yo dd loves this stationary shop www.smiggle.co.uk/shop/en/smiggleuk and reastie included a 20% off code i think. My 10 yo ds is v young for his age and loves quirky cuddlies, lego etc. Does she like Minecraft or anything you could get a tshirt or maybe these (they were closer to £10 yesterday so may go down again) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00DOQCWF8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=ox_sc_sfl_title_15&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2015 21:04

This is quite fun and trivial pursuit is a christmas tradition in my family TP family £16.66

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2015 21:08

Not for a 10 year old but good gift for older family members bargain trivial pursuit party edition - apologies if already posted £8.50

DansonslaCapucine · 12/11/2015 21:13

Anyone else enjoying scoring their Hotel Chocolat chocolates? I'm halfway through my second box and tonight wrote 'complex array of tastes and textures.' WTF

Last week I wrote, 'sharp yet smooth, immediate yet long lasting.'

Somebody has to ban me.

KnottedAnchorChief · 12/11/2015 21:21

I know we're not doing Amazon links but I'm looking at earrings just now and there are loads at half price or less. White gold diamond clusters down from £200 to £100 and some v nice simple Swarovski and sterling silver studs down from £60 to just £6! Lots of nice things for gifts.
I was actually looking for something for me and now I'm doing a whole wish list!

thunderbird69 · 12/11/2015 21:24

Just spotted that Seasalt have free p&p ending today. Ordered a jute bag to use in place of a basket for a ' hamper' I'm making up.
Quite a few are out of stock but still some Xmas and non-Xmas ones left.

Notgoodtogo · 12/11/2015 21:31

Yuumyumpoppycat, these stockings were in poundland yesterday and are very similar to ones I have seen online at 10x the price. The pic is awful though but hopefully you get the idea

Place marking despite having finished Grin

Prizepudding · 12/11/2015 21:37

In home bargains today and picked up a hamper kit for 79p, it's basically the shredded paper, cellophane and tags which is good if you are just making up one hamper. Might be useful PamelaEwing for your beer crate, wish I could find something similar without the beer on it.

Someone was also looking for blu blu the dolphin and they had it for £32.99

SpaghettiMeatballs · 12/11/2015 21:40

Thank you for Build a Bead code.

BeaBoo · 12/11/2015 21:41

Capucine I just literally laughed out loud at your Hotel Chocolat comments Grin

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 12/11/2015 21:42

Almost finished my shopping now Grin just DH and MIL to buy for and probably a load more bargains for DD

Really struggling with something for MIL (my SIL, her DD died in July - she had learning disabilities and was very childlike and she loved christmas so it will be hard for all of us and MIL in particular)

DansonslaCapucine · 12/11/2015 21:50

BeaBoo - I'll give you one more - 'The perfect accompaniment for a cup of peppermint tea.'

Believe it or not, I've written wankier ones.

captainflash · 12/11/2015 21:51

todayisabeautifulday I teach Year 6 so spend my days surrounded by 10 year old girls! I would totally go for some Smiggle bits and pieces if you have one nearby or can do online. In store they have some packs that are made up ready and are quite bargainous compared to buying bits separately. I'd say over 2/3 of the girls of my class have a Smiggle pencil case and pens!
Other things they love are lip smackers (sweets or soda flavoured lip balms), Lush bath bombs, stationary in general or post its. The Pointless Book is very popular or anything by Tanya Burr or Alfie Deyes.
In terms of toiletries, the Zoella range in Superdrug is great and very popular. I've seen quite a few hamster (or it could be a Guinea pig) make up bags around.
Hope that helps!

SirNiallDementia · 12/11/2015 21:53

I was in Dunelm Mill today and they had some lovely hessian Santa Sacks, really nice quality for only £3.99. There are a few different designs.

If anybody has superhero geeky men or boys to buy for geek box might be good. It's a subscription thing so you would have to remember to cancel it. But for £20 you get a box of goodies including a tshirt and a free gift worth £20. I've bought one to fill stockings for teenage ds's. They also do a kids box
