DD is 2, and over the last year we've become closer friends with a small group of her friends/their mums - we see each other most weeks for coffee/play. We didn't do presents last year, but as I say those friendships have really meshed this year, and have extended to siblings etc, and we have done birthday presents for kids and mums.
My dilemma is, should I expect that we're doing christmas presents for toddlers / siblings / mums? What would your expectation be? I don't want to buy and embarass anyone or set a precedent if they don't want to, but also don't want to be left without presents for anyone who gives. I could buy and wait and see, but potentially would be left with spare gifts for 3 toddlers, 2 siblings, and 3 mums.
The sensible answer seems to be to talk to the mums, but I don't know how to raise it without sounding grabby/mean
. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to broach it please?
