X MAS 2015 SYMTHS TOYS CANCELLING PREORDERS AND STILL TAKING MONEY FROM BANK ACCOUNTS

Hi to all the stressed parents and santa clauses , who have to buy for the children this year.

SMYTHS TOYS CANCELED MY LEGO PRE ORDER, due in end of November 2015 THEN EMAIL ME TO TELL ME THEY WERE STILL TAKING THE MONEY FROM MY BANK ACCOUNT. yes really .

Symths toys terms and conditions on there website sates"You will be asked to provide card payments details at this Pre Order stage BUT payment will not be taken until you collect the product in store or it is dispatched for home delivery."

They are not obeying their own polices and trading standards are now investigating I DO NOT HAVE THE GOODS AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THEY HAVE CANCELLED THEM . ANYONE KNOW A DECENT POLICEMAN?

I WOULD TWEET THEM OR COMPLAIN ON FACEBOOK AND HAVE A CUP OF TEA TO CALM YOUR NERVES.

We have a thread every year about how crap these Smyth's people are.

I'd never heard of them until the numerous threads every year.

The more people that complain to trading standards the more can be done.
most people wont know until they receive an email that they have cancelled the order, for no reason whatsoever.

Please do not use them as they do not answer the emails or phones.
The fact they deny some poorer the chance to order from another shop , because they hold your money is illegal as the goods are not dispatched under the terms and conditions .

Have to say I have never had an issue with them ever. They are mainly Irish based though so maybe they are better behaved here?

I'd agree Jeannie. Never had an issue with them here in Ireland either. I'd mainly buy in-store, but have ordered on-line, and pre-ordered without issue.

Last year Smyths had exclusivity over a Lego item ds wanted, you could only get it there or the Lego store.

I duly waited for a 20% offer and ordered it. Whereby the money was taken. then I was told it was oos. And a refund had been issued and funds would be back in 5 days. Amazingly only 24 hours later it was back in stock and the promotion ended. They very sadly informed me that as they'd cancelled the order I could reorder it at full price.

I did not want to do this.

What I did do, was phone Lego and suggest that they shouldn't give unscrupulous bastards exclusivity over products if the store was going to be dick about it.

And what Lego did was price match the set for me, send it free p&p and include a free gift .... On the basis they appreciated for the feedback.

And the most important thing about this story is ....

I DID IT ALL WITHOUT SHOUTING OR INVOLVING POLICEMANS AT ALL!!!!!!!

Never had a problem with Smyths. But then I never pre order things. I don't trust many companies with my money.
