Where to buy wrapping paper?

Not just for Christmas, but that is the next event that will require it here. I normally buy from Tesco, because it is there. Can I do better without spending more or get the same quality & quantity for less elsewhere?

I just got some gorgeous paper from Matalan. Three 3metre rolls - one tartan, one with blue and red stags and one with gold stars - really traditional but with a cool twist! For 4 pounds you get 3 rolls of paper, 15 stag shaped gift tags and 3 spools of red curling ribbon. They're on 3 for 2 as well! Started wrapping today and nice quality too - not so thick that it repels sellotape (like the luxury m and s stuff I bought last year!) but not so thin that it rips. Looks very stylish IMO!

Ikea wrapping paper is really good.

Pico2 · 08/11/2015 21:38

I can clearly do better than Tesco then! Thanks.

I wasn't that struck on ikea's paper this year.

Wilko can have some nice bits. I haven't looked this year (because it's November), but last year their ribbon etc was decent.

GoofyIsACow · 08/11/2015 21:44

Do you mean design or quality?

I think the last 4 pack i bought was about... 6 months ago ish.

It's quite thick and it's like brown paper with black patterns, it's nice.

Although the designs vary a lot every time i go.

QueryQuery · 08/11/2015 22:09

The Christmas designs.

Taytocrisps · 08/11/2015 22:44

I used to buy expensive rolls from stationery shops. Now I just buy from Pennys/Primark. They have lovely designs if you get in there early enough and the gift bags are very good value also.

GoofyIsACow · 08/11/2015 23:38

Ahh i see, i haven't seen them yet, we are going this week though so will have a gander!

Sheldonfan · 09/11/2015 19:08

I just bought that stag paper after you mentioned it ilovelamp2. Would never had thought of looking in matalan for some reason. Thanks.

fluffysox15 · 09/11/2015 20:54

I buy all the high quality but in the January sales. So usually around 10p a roll!

Pico2 · 09/11/2015 21:11

Oh no! I'm too late for that.

No problem Sheldon! I bought some fake holly wreaths from pound land today, chopped them up and tied onto parcels - looks fab! Feeling very Christmassy already.

Doughnutsandflapjacks33 · 10/11/2015 16:30

I am really disappointed with the range of wrapping paper at Tesco's this year. I have bought mine from Matalan as I wanted tartan, they have 3 for 2 so I saved a little bit.

LimboNovember · 10/11/2015 16:39

ilove

I just got some gorgeous paper from Matalan

Me too, I got the nutcracker one and was also eyeing up the stag, they had some really gorgeous things in there this year!! and it is great quality!

LimboNovember · 10/11/2015 16:40

Ikea usually has excellent quality paper but I wasnt impressed with the deigns this year.

cornflakes91 · 11/11/2015 19:38

Got some lovely designs in aldi the other day, £1 a roll.

lambfam · 11/11/2015 22:56

I also thought the IKEA range disappointing this year - dull shades of grey and pale pink/blues - not very Christmassy.
We have bought some nice packs from Aldi and they were good prices. Not opened them yet so cant comment on quality but I generally find their stuff good

ChimpyChops · 11/11/2015 23:16

I bought some from Smiths. They have a good range for all ages and instore they are half price. So 3m for between £1.74 and £1.99 for their standard wrapping paper.
I sometimes buy Clintons in the January sales.
Am.heading to Matalan after reading this!

MTWTFSS · 12/11/2015 07:23

Card factory are selling 3 3m rolls of Xmas paper for £1 Grin

Pico2 · 12/11/2015 07:55

Is the Card Factory paper really thin? Unlike all of the other shops mentioned here, we've actually got one of them. Whilst I like living here, there is nothing here at all.

For the last few years Asda have done a very cheap roll, about 30p I think. It would have to be really horrible not to buy it!

trinitybleu · 12/11/2015 08:03

Loved Ikeas last year. Silver with a diamond-y pattern so it got used up for birthdays too, and really good quality. Will have to see what the designs are like this year it seems ...

PennyHasNoSurname · 12/11/2015 08:08

Ive got this years from Asda - 10m roll for £1, blue with a geometric tree print all over it.

Im another one who usually buys IKEA but this year was not impressed. I do buy their birthday wrap though (and sadly got excited when I saw the same wrap on Modern Family!)

imwithspud · 12/11/2015 10:00

I got 3 massive roles from Wilko, it's 3 for 2 so only cost me £4, nice designs too. Off the top of my head I think I got a 12metres, 8m and 5m. So that should definitely last me this year, possibly next year tooGrin
