Presents for teenagers bf/gf?

What do people do about their teenage dc's other halfs. Do you buy presents for them and if so what do you buy. I've just realised I potentially have another two presents to buy this year.

DD 19, has just split up from a waste of space her boyfriend but has started seeing somebody else, who she may or may not still be with by Christmas. It's very early days so I wouldn't like to speculate.

DS1 16, has been going out with his girlfriend for around 12 months.

So I was thinking I probably would need to buy ds's gf a present as they have been together a while now. Ds spends a lot of time at her house so I suspect he might receive a gift from her parents.

If I get ds's gf a present, DD will expect a gift for her bf too. I'm not tight but I hate having to buy for the world and his wife just for the sake of it. I prefer to buy presents for people who mean something to me personally. I don't really know what they are in to so it would probably be a boots 3 for 2 type gift that can easily go to somebody else if things go tits up between now and Christmas.

First world problems I know, but what do others do?

You could give your DS a giftcard for somewhere like Pizza Express or Nandos that they can go to together. I would do something similar for your DD, give her some money or tickets that they can both use.

We do as DoublePoints suggests - usually coffee and restaurant vouchers between the two of them.

That sounds like a good idea but I don't think it will work for dcs. If Ds gets a physical present from his girlfriends family, I feel like a voucher for food would look like it was more for Ds to take who he wanted. DD is being quite spoiled by her new boyfriend at the moment and he can afford to eat out regularly so it wouldn't seem much of a gift.

what about a cinema voucher box - cineworld do them with tickets, chocolates and voucher for a drink and popcorn then maybe get her a token gift of something. primark have got some really nice make up bags in and do quite a good range of make up etc that you could fill it with fairly cheaply and they have some lovely sets of pjs with matching fluffy socks that are all in a nice box
