Gifts for around £5

I need small gifts for ideally £5 or less.
To buy for I have an 11yr old boy and girl, 9 year old girl and then 2 girls aged 4 and 5.

Any ideas where to look for something cheap but not tacky. I'd thought about small boots gift sets on 3 for 2 but couldn't see anything in my local store

Do you have a Tiger near you? Loads of toys at that price range or under, from cuddly animals to wooden puzzles, craft sets, artists materials and very nice stationery etc.

I would suggest looking in Home Bargains and The Works for ideas.

I saw a game for £4.99 in The Works, which is currently selling for £14.99 in The Happy Puzzle Company catalogue.

I have had some brilliant bargains from Home Bargains. Their stationery stuff is great. Plus my local one has Wallace and Gromit mugs for 99p - £1.50 each. It says £5.99 on the boxes - Result!

They also do these cool little fruit machine money boxes for £4.99 each.

If you have a Primark nearby they have fab hair clips/bands/mittens etc for £1 each. When my dd was 4/5 (and still now at 7) she would have loved a selection of these.

Colour change pens usually seem to be appreciated - you know, where you have a "magic pen" and it turns the other pens different colours.

The Melissa and Doug reuseable sticker books are about £4.99 usually (for the younger ones).

Argos do a 3-D snakes and ladders game for £4.99.

These are often my go-to options for birthday parties!

Some other ideas (£5 is my limit for most birthday parties so I have a list on Amazon):

Top Trumps
Other card game (eg Pit - currently £3.98 on Amazon)
Astronaut food (£4.99)
Books - lots of children's books come in under £5 on Amazon or Book People.

Surprisingly good toys & books in the 99p shop!

John Lewis is really good. Can get Playdoh and crafts stuff really cheap. They also have well made toys for a fiver or less.

Also Mothercare have 3 for 2 on a selection of toys.

lavazzzalover · 06/11/2015 13:38

my friend's 9 yr old girl loves the adult colouring books. The Works sell them for about £4 and pens for a quid.

MackerelOfFact · 06/11/2015 14:41

I've just bought some of these (same price in Rymans, if you're not buying anything else from Amazon) which would be great with an adult colouring book for an older child or teen.
